2011 Philadelphia Eagles Schedule

The Philadelphia Eagles lit up the scoreboard last season en route to a 10-6 finish and a trip to playoffs. That record was good enough for the Eagles to take down the NFC East division despite being tied with the New York Giants, who they swept the season series from. Philly would ultimately lose to the eventually Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round by a final of 21-16.
Michael Vick had an MVP-caliber season even though he missed a few games due to injury, and was not their starter at the beginning of the season. He led an Eagles offense that ranked second in yards (389.4) and third in points (27.4) per game. Going forward, this offense is going to be very dangerous provided the offensive line can protect him. It’s the defense that needs improvement after ranking 21st in points (23.6) allowed per game.
It’s time to go over the schedule for the 2011-12 Eagles to make an educated guess on how many games they will win this season. Philly thrived within their division last year, posting a 4-2 record in the NFC East which includes a Week 17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in which they rested all of their starters. They will need at least a repeat performance this season in their six games against the likes of the Cowboys, Giants and Redskins if they want to win the division again.
Philly will play the NFC West this year and should be favored in all four of those contests. Their toughest tests will be road meetings with the St. Louis Rams and the Seattle Seahawks but they’ll probably be close to a touchdown favorite in both games. The Eagles are sure to be at least touchdown favorites in their home meetings with the San Francisco Giants and Arizona Cardinals. They should get through this division with a 4-0 record.
It gets a little tougher when they have to square off against the AFC East division. It is home to two of the best teams in the NFL in the New England Patriots and New York Jets. But they catch a break in 2011, getting to host both of those teams with a Week 12 home game against the Patriots and a Week 15 home meeting with the Jets. Philly will likely be a slight favorite in both games, and surely no more than a 3-point underdog in either. The Eagles get to play the bottom feeders of that division (Bills, Dolphins) on the road and will be a favorite to win those showdowns. With the way their schedule sets up against the AFC East, they have a chance to go 4-0 but 3-1 is a little more realistic at best.
Finally, the Eagles get to play the first-place finishers in the NFC North and the NFC South. They will travel to face the Atlanta Falcons and will be an underdog in that game before hosting the Chicago Bears as a favorite. If the Eagles were to win all of the games they will be favored in, they would come away with a 12-4 record this season. My guess is they finish 11-5 behind the same potent offense and an improved defense.
