Phoenix Suns at Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers will look to sweep the season series against the Phoenix Suns when the teams face off at Well Fargo Center Monday night. Philadelphia won at Phoenix 123-110 back on Dec. 29, their only win this season when they have allowed 100 points.

After two tough losses on the road, Philadelphia bounced back a 96-85 win over the Utah Jazz on Saturday, their third straight win at home.

Phoenix ended their five-game winning streak with a miserable performance on Saturday, falling 75-74 at Detroit. It was the Suns lowest offensive output of the season.

Taking a look at the NBA spreads for tonight’s action, oddsmakers have the 76ers favored by 4-points over the Suns with the total sitting at 207.5.

Despite the Suns performance against the Pistons, they are averaging 105.2 points a game on the road, and are coming off their longest winning streak this season. it was the Suns fourth road game in six days, and don’t be surprised if they come out firing after getting a day off.

Steve Nash was the only starter for the Suns in double figures with 14 points. Jared Dudley came off the bench to score 13 points and Marcin Gortat had 11 points and 13 rebounds. It was Gortat’s third straight double-double, and he is starting to take more and more playing time away from Robin Lopez, who had just four points in 14 minutes.

Vince Carter has really struggled since dropping 29 points against the Knicks last week, scoring just 24 points combined over his last three games. Carter had 18 points in his last game against the 76ers, but was just 8-20 from the field.

The Suns also have to be hoping that Channing Frye will rebound from a dreadful shooting night.  Frye went just 2-12 from three-point range, and finished with just eight points. Frye had scored 18.8 and hit 17-33 from long distance in his previous five games.

Philadelphia is hoping that their strong defense at home will be able to keep the Suns offense in check. The 76ers are allowing just 93 a game at home this season, and if they can slow down the Suns, they should be able to do enough offensively to win this game.

Philadelphia had seven players score in double figures against the Suns earlier this season, including 25 points from Jrue Holiday, 22 from Andres Nocioni, and 23 points off the bench from rookie Evan Turner. The 76ers won without Andre Iguodala, who was out with an injury. Iguodala had a game-high 22 points against the Jazz.

I think this is a great spot to jump on the 76ers, as I think they have a great shot at winning this game and covering the spread. Philadelphia is 13-7 at home this season, and are playing just their second game in the last four days.
