Pittsburgh Pirates at Milwaukee Brewers Odds

The Brewers continue their quest for the NL Wildcard as they host the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight. Milwaukee has plenty of momentum heading into this game, as they are coming off last night’s walk-off win by Prince Fielder. The Brewers know they have to take full advantage of these games against lower-tier teams. The Milwaukee betting line is at -300, but the Brewers -1.5 runs is only -130 at Sportsbook.com.

Milwaukee sends C.C. Sabathia to the hill tonight. Last time Sabathia pitched against the Pirates, he allowed just one controversial hit. He went all 9 innings and struck out 11 batters. Although Sabathia has lost his last two starts, you can’t put those on him. He pitched well enough to win both games, and was hurt by poor run support and defense. Look for that to change tonight as the Brewers are fighting for the final playoff position.

The Pirates do send their best to the mound tonight in Paul Maholm. However, the Brewers have had his number in this 2008 season. In his last two starts against Milwaukee he has given up 19 hits and 8 earned runs in just over 11 innings of work. Look for this trend to continue.

Look for Bill Hall and Mike Cameron to continue their hot streaks against Maholm. Hall is batting .609 with 4 doubles and 2 homers and Cameron is batting .667 with 3 homers and 7 RBIs against the Bucco’s ace. Also expect a big night from Prince Fielder. He is currently on a 13 game hit streak, where he is batting .412 with 6 homers and 17 RBIs. Expect him to stay hot as the Brewers make their final push.

With the hot offense against the struggling Maholm, along with C.C. Sabathia taking the hall, expect the Brewers to win big. Jay Todd’s recommendation is to play the Brewers on the RUN LINE against the Pirates.
