Playing Football Teasers

The first thing that you need to know about teasers is that they are called that for a reason, but that doesn’t mean that these bets can’t work out for you.

The keys to winning teasers is to tease the number not the team.
During the season you might see Carolina playing New York where Carolina is laying 7 points. Now you don’t want to lay that many since you have to win by two scores. This doesn’t really mean that you like New York, just that 7 is a bad number and if you can tease that number down to -1/2 then it’s worth a look. -1/2 is a great number because the game isn’t going to end in a tie, so -1/2 and +1 are worth the same.
This is why for 6.5 teasers there are key numbers to look for and to take advantage of:
-1 through -5 to +5.5 or +.5 isn’t going to give you much of an advantage. However, when you get a six point favorite then you get +.5 where you will just need to win the game to win the bet. This means that -6, -6.5, 7, and 7.5 work well. If you tease a line at -8, -8.5, or -9 then you get the spread down to less than a field goal which can be fairly profitable as well since you won’t have to win by a touchdown.
Then you get to -10 through -11, which we don’t recommend teasing down.
For underdogs, look for +11 since that will bump you up to +17.5 which shows good value.
We think the number 13 is a good one to avoid whether you like the favorite or the underdog, since you are teasing yourself to -7.5 or +19.5 which aren’t very good value numbers.
Don’t tease + or – 14 or 14.5, but teasing 15 up to 21.5 or teasing 15 down to 8.5 are both good ways to go.
Also, don’t tease a number above 15 up or down using 6.5 point teasers.
