Raiders Vikings Line

The Oakland Raiders will look to stay on top the AFC West when they go on the road to face the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. The Raiders snapped a two game losing streak with a 24-17 win at San Diego last Thursday, and now lead their division with a 5-4 record. Oakland will face a Minnesota team that just lost 7-45 to the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football, dropping their overall record to 2-7.

Taking a look at the week 11 spreads, oddsmakers currently have the Raiders favored by 1-point over the Vikings with the total set at 45.5 points.

Oakland Raiders:

The Raiders have to feel a bit fortunate to be leading the AFC West at this point in the season, as it seems like this team loses a key player to injury just about every time they take the field. They have been without star running back Darren McFadden the past two games, and it doesn’t seem likely that he will be able to return to action against Minnesota. Linebacker Rolando McClain, corner DeMarcus Van Dyke, safety Michael Huff, and wide out Jacoby Ford are all listed as questionable this week.

The positive thing out of all of this is they have got other players to step up and pick up the slack. In their last game against San Diego, backup running back Michael Bush rushed for a career-high 177 yards and caught three passes for another 85 yards, while rookie wide out Denarius Moore hauled in five passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns.

The Raiders also got their best game yet out of quarterback Carson Palmer, who Oakland traded for after losing Jason Campbell for the season. Palmer went 14 of 20 for 299 yards and two touchdowns.

The Raiders have averaged 145 ypg while McFadden has been out, but getting to that total against the Vikings won’t be easy. Minnesota is 6th in the NFL against the run, allowing just 93.9 ypg. However, Palmer and the passing game could be in for another big game, as the Vikings come in 30th against the pass (272.8 ypg).

Minnesota Vikings:

The Vikings latest loss to Green Bay was a tough pill to swallow even for a team that is already out of playoff contention. Minnesota had played the Packers to a 27-33 final just a few weeks back, but could do nothing right on either side of the ball last week. Now this team must try and refocus and get ready to face a good Oakland team on a short week of rest.

The Vikings managed just 266 yards of total offense against Green Bay. Star running back Adrian Peterson was held to just 52 yards on 14 attempts and rookie quarterback Christian Ponder completed just 16 of 34 attempts for 190 yards with no touchdowns and one interception.

The primary focus for the Vikings will be getting Peterson and the ground game going. If Peterson doesn’t put up over a 100 yards, this team has a very little chance of winning this game. The good news is the Raiders haven’t been very good at stopping the run. They allow just over 132.4 ypg and were torched for 299 yards in a 24-38 loss to Denver two weeks ago.

Betting Trends:

Oakland is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games as a road favorite.

Minnesota is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing more than 30 points in their previous game.
