Rams vs Patriots Odds

Just a couple a weeks ago many experts were wondering if the Rams were going to even win a game this season, as they got beat bad in their first 4 games of the season, but since changing coaches and handing the job to Jim Haslett, the question now arises as who will beat this Rams team that is coming off back to back wins over the Redskins and Cowboys. This week the Patriots get their shot when the Rams come into Foxboro this weekend. The oddsmakers are thinking the Rams luck is about to run out as they have the Patriots 7.5 point favorites over the Rams.

The Rams are starting to look like a football team again, and that largely goes to the fact that Steven Jackson is finally looking like the back that went for over 2,000 total yards just a couple years ago. In their last game against the Cowboys Jackson ran for 160 yards and 3 scores, and it was by far the best performance he has had in some time. The Rams are also getting solid play from quarterback Marc Bulger again, as Bulger has thrown for 209 yards and a score in the Rams to game winning streak, and has not thrown an interception since the 3rd game of the season. Look for the Rams to focus on Jackson and getting him going, but they might need a big day out of Bulger if they want to make it 3 straight.

Its hard to figure out this Rams defense, as they were giving up well over 35 points a game in their 4 losses to start the season, and in their two wins they are giving up just 15.5 points a game, and that came against two offenses that many consider near the top in the league. Now the Rams did get a little lucky last week, as the Cowboys were without Pro Bowl quarterback Tony Romo. Either way you have to like the way this team is playing on this side of the ball, and if they can keep it up there is no question they can pull off yet another upset this week.

The Patriots really answered the doubters after they got beat up 2 weeks ago by the Chargers, as they responded by beating up on the Broncos last week 41-7, where quarterback Matt Cassel went off for 3 touchdowns on 18 of 26 passing, and backup running back Sammy Morris exploded against the Broncos weak defense for 138 yards and a score. A good sight for Patriots fans had to be Randy Moss getting back in the mix, as Cassel found him 5 times for 69 yards and 2 scores. Its hard telling how the Patriots will play this week as they seem to be hit or miss depending on the week, but we got a good feeling they are going to have it rolling this week at home.

The Pats defense really showed that maybe those old legs have a little bit left in them, as they were able to keep up with a Broncos offense that has a ton of weapons and a quarterback nearing his prime. The Pats did a great job of keeping Jay Cutler in check as they allowed him just 168 yards through the air and forced two big interceptions. Now they did allow backup Michael Pittman to run it 20 times for 88 yards, and everyone knows the Rams are going to try and run the football a lot this weekend, so if they can’t find a way to improve against the run, this game will be much closer than many people might expect.
