St Louis Rams at Washington Redskins Football Predictions
Written October 9, 2008 by Jason Lowry

The Washington Redskins (4-1) continued to roll last week, as they went into Philly and beat up on the Ealges, and now they finally get to head back home and take on the winless St. Louis Rams (0-4). After looking like crap the first week against the Giants the Redskins have rolled off 4 straight wins over teams like the Saints, Cowboys, and Eagles, and now people are saying they are playing some of the best football in the league. On the other hand the Rams are already on their second coach of the season, and have looked like it will be a struggle to win a game this season. With both teams going in different directions there is no surprise that the oddsmakers have the Redskins favored by 13 points over the Rams at BetUS.com
The Rams offense continues to be a mess, as they scored the most points in a game this season last week when they put up just 14 points. The Rams are coming off a bye week, but its hard to imagine the offense learning much of anything as bad as they have looked. The one bright spot in their last against the Bills was Steven Jackson really got it going running for 110 yards and a score, If the Rams continue to get this kind of production out of Jackson, then maybe they will get something going. Trent Green continues to start at quarterback, but he hasn’t played that good of football since taking over the starting job. Torry Holt continues to get his, but Jackson led the way in receiving as well, as he grabbed 5 balls for 78 more yards. To win this week Jackson would have to have a monster game, but against the Redskins defense that wont be easy.

The one problem is even if the Rams offense gets it going, there has to be little hope that the defense is going to stop the Redskins from moving the football. Though they given up the fewest yards through the air, they have given up the most on the ground. There is no question the Redskins are going to run the football, don’t be surprised to see them really test this unit deep with the deep threat of Santana Moss. Bet Rams +13 at BetUS.com
Speaking of that Redskins offense, they have really played well after scoring just 7 points in week 1 against the Giants. The reason for that is the great play from quarterback Jason Campbell, who did just that completing 19 of 29 and most importantly didn’t turn the football over, and has yet to do so all season long. Chris Cooley had the best game of his season, with 8 catches for 109 yards and a score. The real star of the game was Clinton Portis who ran for 145 yards and a score, and is a large reason why the Redskins are 8th in the league in yards per game. If you look at how the Rams have played this season, you would have to expect this offense to put up over 30 points this week.
Just as good as the offense is playing, the defense has also turned it on, as they have really gave some of the better offenses trouble this season. They might be giving up more yards than they would like, but they have been the best when it matters, and that means they are making plays and really turning it on when the ball crosses the 50 yard line. Look for this defense to eat up on a Rams offense that has been able to do little to nothing. Bet Redskins -13 at BetUS.com
