Rams vs Redskins NFL Recap Week 2
Written September 22, 2009 by Black Widow
The Washington Redskins were a 10-point favorite to beat the St. Louis Rams this past Sunday according to the NFL odds, but this one was much closer than the linesmakers were predicting. We’ll give you a recap of what went down below, and we just want you to know that if you are going to do any NFL wagering this weekend that you should do it at Superbook! The Redskins have kicker Shane Suisham and their defense to thank for avoiding an 0-2 start with a 9-7 win over St. Louis Sunday. The Redskins heard boos throughout the game because the Rams are clearly down and they should have handled St. Louis. Instead, the offense faltered as they only cashed in 3 field goals despite making 5 trips to the red zone. The defense was superb, though, limiting the Rams to just 245 yards for the game. They held Mark Bulger to 15-of-28 passing for only 125 yards and a touchdown. Steven Jackson had his way on the ground with 104 rushing yards, but this defense did a good job of bending but not breaking, and the same can be said for St. Louis.

Washington put up 362 total yards, a big number to only put 9 points on the board. Jason Campbell passed for 242 yards and Clinton Portis rushed for 79 more. Chris Cooley was Campbell’s favorite target, catching 7 balls for 83 yards in the game. All three Suisham field goals were attempted from inside 30 yards, which means that the Redskins just couldn’t punch it in when they got inside the 10-yard line. Those three drives stalled on the 4, 6 and 11-yard lines. Give the St. Louis defense a lot of credit, but Redskins’ fans were not happy with Washington’s lack of offensive execution in the red zone and that was the reasoning behind all the boo-birds Sunday.
