Baltimore Ravens vs. New York Giants NFL Betting Odds & Spread
Written November 13, 2008 by Jason Lowry

This Sunday in week 11 of NFL action the 6-3 Baltimore Ravens will look to make it 3 straight wins on the road and 5 straight overall when the travel to take on the 8-1 New York Giants. The Ravens most recent win came against Houston, as they made easy work of Texans 41-13, while the Giants continued to look like the best the NFC has to offer with a 36-31 win on the road over the Eagles. For those of you looking to bet on the NFL this weekend, the oddsmakers have the Giants 7 point favorites at home over the Ravens at Bookmaker.com
The Ravens strong play of late has landed them in a tie for the lead in the AFC North with the Steelers, but the Ravens final 7 games are not easy, as they have to face all 4 teams from the NFC East still, the Steelers, and what should be two pretty easy games against the Bengals and Jaguars. Last week the Ravens really looked impressive on the offense side of things again, as rookie Joe Flacco continues to get better and better, and last week he completed 15 of 23 passes for 185 yards and two scores. Both of those touchdown strike went to tight end Todd Heap, who finally became a threat in the passing game this season. The running game was solid like normal, as Willis McGahee ran it 25 times for 112 yards and 2 more scores. Its not going to be easy for this unit to move the football against the Giants strong front, and Flacco will have to make sure to get rid of the ball quick in this one.
One reason the Ravens have got to where they are this season, is the defense continues to play at an extremely high level, and last week they made the Texans look like they had no clue what was going on. The Ravens might not of got to Sage Rosenfels in the backfield, but they made him pay when he threw the football, as they picked off the backup QB 4 times, including 2 by the veteran linebacker Ray Lewis, who continues to play at a very high level. The key for this defense will be stopping the run, and getting in the face of Eli Manning, as the Giants are most successful when they can pound the ball at you for 4 quarters. The Giants come into this one winners of 4 straight, and the last 3 have been over Philly, Dallas, and Pittsburgh, so it’s not like this team isn’t playing anybody. Against the Eagles last week it was a lot of Brandon Jacobs, as the star running back ran it 22 times for 126 yards, and 2 scores. Eli Manning also had himself another good outing, as he completed 17/31 passes for 191 yards and 2 scores, but did have an interception. Tight end Kevin Boss was Manning’s favorite target in this one, as Boss hauled in 6 catches for 69 yards and a score, and while he only hooked up with Paxico Burress once the whole game, it was a good, as it went for a 17 yard touchdown. The Giants game plan is run first and pass when needed, but against the Ravens it might be a lot more passing.
The Giants defense has been a force all season, and though it gave up 31 points to the Eagles last week, it still had a solid outing, as they were able to pick McNabb off once, and force a fumble on a kickoff return by Demps. One concern you might have in this one, is the Giants were unable to sack McNabb the whole game, but they were able to get some pressure, and its not like McNabb is the easiest quarterback to bring down. We expect this unit to try and be all over Flacco in this one, and hope that the pressure forces the rookie into some big mistakes. Bet Giants -7 at Bookmaker.com
