Ravens at Packers Odds

Two teams in the thick of the playoff race, the Green Bay Packers and Baltimore Ravens, will meet for the first time in four years Monday night at Lambeau Field. The Packers sit at 7-4 and would be in right now if the season were to end today, while the Ravens at 6-5 are on the outside looking in and really need this win even more. Taking a look at the NFL odds, we find that the books have listed the Packers as 3.5-point favorites to beat the Ravens with a Total Set of 43 points.

Things were looking a little grim for Green Bay after a 4-4 start, but they have won 3 straight and aim for a fourth in a row tonight. The Packers own a 2-1 all-time advantage in this series, winning the last meeting 48-3 in Baltimore back in 2005. In their 34-12 win over Detroit last game on Thanksgiving Day, Aaron Rodgers threw for 348 yards and 3 touchdowns, Donald Driver caught 7 balls for 142 yards and a score, while Charles Woodson stole the show defensively with a sack, a force fumble, a fumble recovery and two interceptions. He returned one of those picks for a score. Defensively, the Packers don’t get the credit they deserve. This team leads the league in total defense, allowing just 281.5 total yards/game under new defensive coordinator Dom Capers’ 3-4 scheme. Rodgers and the defense are the reason for this 3-game winning streak, as their starting QB has completed 71% of his passes for 881 yards and six touchdowns with no interceptions in their last 3 games.

Baltimore is coming off a 20-17 overtime win over Pittsburgh, and their defense has been dominant as well. It was the fifth straight game the Ravens had allowed 17 point or less. This team has suffered a lot of close losses this year, losing their 5 games by a combined 23 points. Offensively, Ray Rice has been carrying the load with 8 straight games of 100 or more yards from scrimmage. He finished with 88 rushing yards and 67 receiving yards in last week’s win over division rival Pittsburgh. His 1,126 yards from scrimmage since Week 4 is only second to Tennessee’s Chris Johnson. Joe Flacco is dealing with a sprained left ankle, but is expected to play tonight. Flacco threw for 289 yards and a touchdown against the Steelers last Sunday, his first touchdown pass in four games.
