Razz
Written February 6, 2008 by Jack Jones
The game of Razz is sort of the anti-poker with the low hand winning the pot. Straights and flushes have no ranking in this game so the best possible hand is A-2-3-4-5. The normal rules of seven-card stud apply in this game with the lowest hand winning the pot. The highest card by suit starts the action with a forced bet and the low hand acts first every round after. If there is a tie for low hand then the first player clockwise from the dealer starts the action. Fixed-limit games have lower limits on 3rd and 4th street with betting increased to the upper limit on the following rounds. The dealer announces all pairs when they occur as long as the pair isn’t a face card.
