San Jose State vs. Fresno State Football Betting Odds & Spread
Written November 18, 2008 by Jason Lowry

This Friday night WAC Conference football will be taking place between the 6-5 San Jose State Spartans and the 6-4 Fresno State Bulldogs. Last week the Spartans lost their second consecutive game, as they feel 17-41 on the road against Nevada, as for the Bulldogs they were able to snap a two game losing streak with a 24-17 win at home over New Mexico State. With both these teams sitting at 6 wins on the season, and playing in a small conference another win would be huge for their shot at a Bowl game, as the regular season continues to wind down for many teams. For those of you looking to do a little football betting this Friday, the oddsmakers have Fresno State 2.5 point favorites at San Jose State at Bookmaker.com
Now the Bulldogs have had a number of close games this season, including 3 of their 4 losses that came by 3 points or less, but this team has two games remaining and a shot to upset undefeated Boise State the following week. Last week the Bulldogs used a solid rushing attack as Anthony Harding led the way with 101 of the Bulldogs 189 yards on the ground, but quarterback Tom Brandstater was star scoring the teams only two touchdowns on 1 yard runs and added another 146 yards through the air. Now I’m sure the Bulldogs would of liked to put more points on the board, but with the way their defense was playing it really didnt matter.
The Bulldogs defense got off to a rough start thanks to the special teams unit, as Chris Williams ran a kick back 96 yards for a touchdown to but New Mexico State up 10-3 early, but the Bulldogs defense was just too much, as they held the Aggies to just 183 total yards, and a -9 on the ground. Sharrod Davis helped out the offense when he ran a fumble 25 yards back to the house, and this defense closed the door in the 2nd half keeping the Aggies from scoring again. We expect another solid defense outing this week against the Spartans, as they have been able to muster just 17 points in their last two games. Bet Fresno State -2.5 at Bookmaker.com
The Spartans just haven’t been able to beat the teams there not suppose to this season, and they get their final shot this week, as Fresno State is the last game for the Spartans this season. In their last game against Nevada they Spartans offense struggled to get much of anything going, as they has just 278 total yards with a -23 on the ground. Now there are very few teams if any that can run for negative yards and win a football game, and the Spartans aren’t going to be one of them. The Spartans did alright in the passing game, as thats all they had for an option, as Kyle Reed and Sean Flynn combined to throw for 301 yards and two scores. This unit better find a way to run the football, or its going to be a long final game of the season for these guys.
The Spartans defense wasn’t much better against Nevada, as the Wolf Pack had 525 yards of total offense, and ran it right down the Spartans throats for 333 yards on 49 attempts with 4 of them going for touchdowns. The Spartans had no answer for Colin Kaepernick, as the quarterback not only threw for 192 yards and a score, he led team in rushing with 147 yards and 2 more touchdowns. Now the Wolf Pack went in and beat up on the Bulldogs as well just a couple weeks ago, so the Spartans should be able to pick up their game this week at home. Bet San Jose State +2.5 at Bookmaker.com
