Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals NFL Spread
Written November 15, 2009 by Black Widow
In their second meeting of the season, the Seattle Seahawks visit the Arizona Cardinals in another NFC West rivalry this Sunday. Seattle comes in at 3-5 off their 32-20 home win over the Lions last week, and if they want any shot at dethroning the defending division champions, then they must find a way to win this big road game. The Cardinals are 5-3 this season, handling the Bears 41-21 last week. Seattle is 0-3 on the road this season, while Arizona is surprisingly 1-3 at home. NFL spreads show the Cardinals as 8.5-point favorites over Seattle with a Total Set of 46.5 points.
The Cardinals won the first meeting handily on the road, pulling away fro a 27-3 victory. In their last home game, the Arizona fans booed their team off the field as Kurt Warner through 5 interceptions in a 21-34 loss to Carolina. But Warner bounced back with 5 touchdown passes against Chicago last week. Arizona has won four straight road games for the first time since 1982, and they are winning by an average of 16.3 points/game away from home. The Cardinals are actually fortunate to be 1-3 at home this season, with their lone win coming 28-21 over Houston with a goal-line stand in the final seconds. Warner is a big reason they have struggled at home, as he has 9 interceptions to 6 touchdowns at home compared to 10 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on the road. Their defense has also been better on the road, forcing 10 turnovers away from home compared to forcing 3 turnovers at University of Phoenix Stadium. They will need a big turnaround from Warner and their defense is they are to avoid dropping yet another home game this weekend.

Seattle has been absolutely terrible on the road dating back to last season. They are 2-11 away from home in their last 13 road trips, including 0-3 this season alone while getting outscored 95-44 in the process. The Cardinals have had their number as well, winning 5 of the last 6 in this series and all 3 games played in Arizona. In their 27-3 home loss earlier this season to Arizona, the Seahawks’ defense allowed Kurt Warner to go off for 276 yards and two touchdowns. Seattle looked shaky last week despite coming away with a 32-20 home win over Detroit. They trailed that game 17-0 at the end of the first quarter, and needed 5 interceptions from Matthew Stafford to get the win. Matt Hasselbeck completed a franchise-record 39 passes in the victory, also throwing for 329 yards. That game wasn’t over until a 61-yard interception return from Josh Wilson with just over 20 seconds remaining. The Seahawks will need another big effort from Hasselbeck, and the defense to force more turnovers this week, if they are to prove victorious over the NFC West-leading Cardinals.
