Wanderlei Silva vs. Quinton Jackson UFC 92 Odds & Predictions

Written December 21, 2008 by Jason Lowry

Silva Jackson

Now it might not be the main event, or even the runner up to the main event, but when Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva get in the octagon this Saturday at UFC 92: The Ultimate 2008, we can promise you someone is going to get knocked out in this one, as these two fights not only are two of the hardest hitting fighters in the world, but they simply don’t like each other. Now both of these fighters are former PRIDE fighters, and have actually fought twice before, both fights went to Silva by knockout, but that won’t stop Rampage from coming back for more. Now other big fights going on this weekend have two of the best heavyweight fighters doing battle in Antonio Nogueira and Frank Mir, and a main event of Light Heavyweight Champion Forrest Griffin defending hit belt against the explosive and undefeated Rashad Evans, but our focus is all on the action packed fight between Jackson and Silva.

Current Odds at BetUS.com
Quinton Jackson -110
Wanderlei Silva -130

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (28-7-0)
Now you have to give credit for Jackson for coming right back from his most recent loss against Forrest Griffin where he lost his Light Heavyweight title and taking on a guy that has kicked his ass twice already, and in the last fight against Silva he got knocked out cold by a number of knees to the face. Now Jackson has been impressive and really fought well against Griffin, and this guy really believes he is the better fighter when it comes to comparing him and Silva, and thats something you have to think going into the ring against a fighter like Silva. Now Rampage strengths is his ability to slam his opponents to the mat, and he is also a solid wrestler if the fight goes to the floor.

Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva (32-8-1)
You have to be a little bit crazy to step into the octagon or anywhere for that matter against this guy, as he is one of the more violent aggressive fighters MMA has ever seen. Silva has a number of big knockouts in his career, and in his last fight against Keith Jardine he added another as he landed a devastating shot that sent Jardine to the ground for good. Silva really hates Rampage and that should make you believe that this guy is going to bring it in this one, and Silva has been talking about something Jackson has yet to see coming into play in this one, so strap on to your chairs and get ready to watch the Axe Murderer go to work.

Prediction:
Now with the way these guys are in your face there are going to be a number of big punches thrown in this one, and at any second either fighter could be sent to the floor, and thats why we think the odds are pretty much the same for both fighters in this one. Now Silva is slightly favored and we think its for good reason, as you just don’t beat a guy as bad as he has beat Jackson if you are not the better fighter. We look for fireworks early in often, and though it might be the most entertaining fight of the night, we don’t see this one going much past the first round, as we see Silva winning by TKO in the 2nd round. For those of you looking to do a little UFC betting this weekend, bet Wanderlei Silva -130 at BetUS.com
