2009 Super Bowl Prop Betting

With the Super Bowl scheduled to get underway in just a little over a week, we thought it would be a good idea to give you some of the best prop bets for your Super Bowl betting. The actual game has the Arizona Cardinals taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers, but outside of who wins and loses and how many points are scored, there are a number of things you can bet on. For those of you looking to do a little more NFL betting than just the game, here are the 5 best Super Bowl prop bets we think have the best chance of making you a little extra money.

Kurt Warner Total Passing Yards: Over 225.5 (-210)

This is a pretty easy one if you think about just how well this team is throwing the football, and how much focus they give the passing game. The running game has picked up in the playoffs, but Warner has still thrown for an average of nearly 257 yards in 3 playoff games. Warner only went under 225 yards in 3 games during the regular season, and with the way Larry Fitzgerald is playing and getting Anquan Boldin back at full strength its hard to imagine him going under 250 in this one. Unless you think the Cardinals are going to blow the Steelers out in this one, this is about as sure prop bet as there is.

Will There be a Score in the First 7.5 mins: No (+140)

This might come as a little bit of a shock for some people, but we could really see this game being scoreless for nearly the entire first quarter. Both teams get an extra week to prepare for what the other team is going to do on the offensive side of things, and with how good the Steelers defense is you have to think they could give the Cardinals some trouble to start this one. Also if the Steelers get the ball they are going to try and get the running game going and really aren’t made for the big play. We could see the Cardinals getting a first down or two before punting and then the Steelers dragging out a drive for a field goal, but we think it will be around 10 minutes before the first points go on the scoreboard.

First Score of Game: Field Goal/Safety (+155)

We really like this prop bet, as touchdowns are what teams are looking for, but its very likely that there will be more field goals than touchdowns in this Super Bowl. Both teams have the talent to put the ball across the goal line, but we have a very good feeling that either Neil Rackers of the Cardinals or Jeff Reed of the Steelers will be called upon to give their team an early 3-0 lead.

Will Larry Fitzgerald Score a Touchdown: Yes (-120)

If the Cardinals are going to have any chance at all against the Steelers, Fitzgerald has to have a big game, and with the way this guy has played over the first 3 games its hard to imagine anything but a big game from one the best receivers in the game. Fitzgerald has already set the record for most receiving yards in one postseason with 419 yards, and has scored a touchdown in each playoff game, including 3 in the NFC Championship game against the Eagles. It would be a complete shock if this guy doesn’t get in the endzone.

Total QB Sacks by Both Teams: Over 5 (-115)

There is no question that the Steelers will try to get some much needed pressure on Kurt Warner, and though Warner has been sacked just 3 times in 3 games during the playoffs, you have to think that the leagues best defense will find a way to get to the Warner at least a few times in this one. As good as the Steelers have been at sacking the opposing team, their offense has been almost as good at letting the opposing team sack their quarterback, as they racked up 51 regular season sacks, while giving up 49 on the offensive side. During the regular season the Cardinals weren’t sack machines by any means but they have really done a good job at getting to the quarterback this postseason. These two teams have combined for 14 sacks this postseason, and we think that they will get to 20 by the end of this one.
