Super Bowl Predictions: Kurt Warner Props
Written January 28, 2009 by Jason Lowry

There are few that thought Kurt Warner would ever make it back to the Super Bowl after his outstanding seasons with the St. Louis Rams where they had the most explosive offense in the game at that time, and went to 2 Super Bowls in 3 years, winning in 1999. In his two previous Super Bowl starts Warner threw for 414 and 365 yards, two of the highest totals in Super Bowl history, and was named the MVP of the Super Bowl in 1999. This season as an Arizona Cardinal, Warner put up another amazing season, throwing for 4,583 yards 30 touchdown and just 14 interceptions, while completing 67% of his passes. In 3 playoff games Warner has been as good as advertised throwing for 770 yards 8 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions with a great 112.1 passer rating. For those of you who can’t get enough NFL betting, here is a look at our thoughts on some of the best prop bets for Warner in the Super Bowl.
Total Passing Yards: Over 259.5 (-115) Under 259.5 (-115)
Its hard telling if the Steelers will be able to slow down this offense, or will Warner and company keep it going through the air. Warner has thrown for more than 260 yards in 5 of his last 7 games, and with the numbers he has put up in previous Super Bowls, we think Warner comes through with another big time performance.
Completions: Over 23.5 (-115) Under 23.5 (-115)
With the Steelers so good against the run, its hard to imagine even with the emerging running game of the Cardinals, that they will have much success on the ground. So that means Warner is going to have to air it out quite frequently, and as accurate as this guy is we think if he airs it out 40 times he is going to complete at least 24 of them.
Total Pass Attempts: Over 39.5 (-115) Under 39.5 (-115)
Based off our previous prediction that Warner is going to complete 24 passes we are going to say that he airs it out at least 40 times in this one. If the Steelers defense controls the game and the Cardinals fall behind early, Warner and company will have no choice but to just keep on passing to try and get back in the game. We are saying Warner throws it over 40 times in this one.
Longest Completion: Over 39.5 (-115) Under 39.5(-115)
This seems like a given with the talent this guy has at receiver, and the Cardinals are known for the big plays on offense, so we expect Warner to easily complete a pass for 40 yards in this one, and if the Cardinals keep it close it’s likely he has 2-3 passes over 40 yards.
What Will He Throw First: Touchdown (-145) Interception (+115)
Warner has thrown just 2 interceptions all postseason, and we just don’t think he is going to make the big mistake to take the Cardinals out of the game early. Plus when you can throw it to a guy like Larry Fitzgerald who catches everything, it makes life a lot easier. With the Cardinals unlikely to score on the ground at all, you have to like a touchdown first from Warner.
Total Touchdown Passes: Over 1.5(-150) Under 1.5 (+120)
If the Cardinals are going to have any chance at winning Warner has to have a big day passing, and if he doesn’t throw at least 2 touchdowns, we don’t see how the Cardinals win this game. Because we think the Cardinals are going to keep it close, we think Warner throws 2 possibly 3 touchdowns in this one.
What Will He Throw First: Completion (-190) Incompletion/INT (+150)
Warner is one of the most accurate quarterbacks in the game, and though the Cardinals could take a shot deep early, we still like Warner’s first pass to be a completion.
Will He Throw an Interception: Yes (-220) No (+170)
As good as Warner has played this postseason, he has yet to face the Steelers defense, and that we think will be the determining factor in this one. We think the Steelers will get pressure on Warner, and at some point he is going to make a mistake in this one.
