2011 Sweet 16 Bracket - March 21, 2011

Well, that was an interesting weekend to say the least!  I’m guessing that virtually nobody had four double-digit seeds advancing to the Sweet 16.  Even if they did, it’s hard to imagine that they picked the four that actually did advance.  #12 Richmond, #11 VCU, #10 Florida State, and #11 Marquette are all still alive, the first three all coming out of the Southwest Region.  Download or print this year’s complete Sweet 16 Bracket. The double-digit seeds were by no means the...

Obama’s Bracket for 2011 NCAA Tournament - March 16, 2011

President Barack Obama recently filled out his 2011 NCAA Tournament bracket, so let’s take a look at what the big cheese thinks about this year’s field. What first jumps out at me is that Obama went with an ultra-conservative NCAA tournament bracket.  The only upsets he picked in the first round were Marquette, Illinois (of course), Richmond, Florida State, Gonzaga, and Michigan State and the lowest seed he has slated in the Sweet Sixteen is a five (both Arizona and Kansas State). College...

One of the great things about...

NCAA Tournament Handicapping - March 14, 2011

The college basketball postseason is a completely different animal than the regular season.  During the conference season, when analyzing a matchup you can compare a lot of games in which the two schools played common opponents.  Towards the end of the season, each team starts to develop a similar strength of schedule rating as their opponent, especially if you are looking at recent performances that only include these conference games so it’s easy to compare a team with their foe. Once March...
