2011 Western Kentucky Football Predictions - July 11, 2011

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers finished 2010 just 2-10 overall, but cashed in their first two Sun Belt wins since joining the conference back in 2008.  It was a successful first season for head coach Willie Taggart, who really stepped into a tough situation. With 15 starters back, Taggart and the Hilltoppers will look to avoid finishing out of the basement in the Sun Belt for the first time. Here is a closer look at what Western Kentucky will send to the field in 2011, plus my prediction on where...

2011 Sun Belt Football Predictions - July 7, 2011

The Sun Belt might be considered the weakest of the Division 1 conferences, but the competition inside this conference is something few conferences can match. In 2010 Florida International and Troy both finished with a conference-best 6-2  mark (FIU beat Troy), but eight of the nine teams either finished at .500 or better or were one win away from finishing at .500. When you combine the parity of these teams with the emphasis this conference puts on the offensive side of the ball, it really makes...

Western Kentucky at Nebraska - September 1, 2010

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers visit the Nebraska Cornhuskers Saturday for the season opener for both teams. The Hilltoppers went winless last season at 0-12, but did make improvements as the season wore one by losing each of their final three games by six points or less. Nebraska went 10-4 last year, nearly upsetting the Texas Longhorns in the Big 12 Championship Game as they fell just one second short. Taking a look at the college football odds on this game, I find Nebraska -37.5 over Western...

2009 Western Kentucky Football Predictions - July 30, 2009

This will be the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers first season as a member of both the Football Bowl Subdivision and the Sun Belt Conference. The Hilltoppers won’t have to face quite the gauntlet they did a season ago when they played five of their first six games away from home. But depth and experience will be issues, and the program won’t be ready to compete for a league title right away. WKU signed perhaps their best recruiting class ever in February, so things are at least looking up. College...

2009 Western Kentucky Hilltoppers NCAA Football Predictions - July 1, 2009

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers streak of 12 straight winning seasons came to an end last year, as the Hilltoppers went just 2-10 overall. This will be just the third season that Western Kentucky has been apart of division 1, as the Hilltoppers were 1AA up until 2006. The Hilltoppers will join the Sun Belt conference this season, and will hope to improve on their 0-5 record against teams in this conference last season. The Hilltoppers only bring back 12 starters from last season, and should have...
