Tavarius Jackson to Start for the Vikings
Written December 18, 2008 by Jack Jones

The Minnesota Vikings will start quarterback Tarvaris Jackson this Sunday when they take on the Atlanta Falcons. Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell made the announcement today even though Gus Frerotte returned to practice on Wednesday after missing last week’s game against the Arizona Cardinals with a lower back injury.
Jackson is coming off a four touchdown performance in the team’s 35-14 win over the Cardinals. That showing earned him the NFC Offensive Player of the Week award in his first start since Week 2 of the season. He was benched after Minnesota’s 0-2 start, but has played well replacing Frerotte. Two weeks ago in Detroit he was 8-for-10 and 105 yards, throwing one touchdown in the come from behind win against the Lions.
All Minnesota needs to do is win a single game over the next two weeks or have the Bears lose one of their remaining contests in order to wrap up the Vikings’ first NFC North title since 2000. The NFL odds show Minnesota as a three-point favorite over Atlanta while the Bears are a four point favorite over Green Bay.
