TCU at Oklahoma Football Betting Odds
Written September 24, 2008 by Jack Jones

The second-ranked Oklahoma Sooners should have another easy warm-up as they get ready for Big 12 conference play when they host the No. 24 TCU Horned Frogs in Norman this Saturday. Both teams have been off to impressive starts, but the odds makers at Sportsbook.com still have Oklahoma as 17.5 point favorites with the total listed at 55.
There hasn’t been a team that has looked as good as the Sooners through the early part of the year. Oklahoma started off with a 57-2 win over Chattanooga then followed it up with a 52-26 rout of Cincinnati. Then on September 13th it was Washington that was drubbed 55-14 to give Oklahoma a 164-42 advantage over opponents through three games, that’s good for a 40.7 average margin of victory.
TCU has also looked impressive so far this season, averaging a 35.3 point margin of victory following their 48-7 beating of SMU last week. The Horned Frogs are yet to trail in any game, are fifth in the nation in total points, and lead the nation in both rushing yards and total yards per game. They are allowing 30.5 yards on the ground and 180 overall per contest.
You can bet that Oklahoma isn’t taking this team lightly as TCU has beaten the Sooners the last two times these teams met in Norman. In the 2005 season opener, Oklahoma came in with the No. 7 ranking only to fall 17-10. You can bet on TCU +17.5 at Sportsbook.com using your debit card.

The TCU defense will be hard pressed to hold Oklahoma down like they have their first four opponents. The Sooners are fourth in the nation with 556.7 yards per game and are led by sophomore quarterback Sam Bradford. Bradford was 18-for-21 for 304 yards, five touchdowns, and no interceptions when the team totaled 591 yards in their last game. He now has 10 touchdown passes in his last two games. The team is balanced with Bradford’s passing and an offensive line that is protecting him, along with opening up big holes for the physical running game.
Stoops will have his guys ready to play in this one, the Sooners were off to a hot start last year with a 246-47 cumulative point total before falling to Colorado 27-24 in the team’s conference opener. He knows this team is special and has a chance to do some big things, but Oklahoma has a long way to go to reach their goal of winning a national title.
Defensively the Sooners are going to have to deal with the loss of tackle DeMarcus Granger, who could miss the rest of the season with a left foot injury. While he was a talented player, this defense has a lot of able bodies and should be able to fill the gap. Bet on Oklahoma -17.5 at Sportsbook.com and get a 100% bonus on your first winning wager!
