TCU vs. Wyoming Spread

Written by -

The TCU Horned Frogs are really starting to get the attention of the nation lately with their huge wins over formidable opponents. This weekend they head to Laramie to take on the Wyoming Cowboys. Wyoming is coming off a massive fourth quarter comeback win over San Diego State last weekend in a game where they were down 27-6 going into the last quarter and won. Wyoming has made big strides throughout the year, but it will be a very tall task to try to match up with this TCU football team.

The TCU Horned Frogs have a great combination of an amazing defense and a very talented offense that controls the football and wears down the other team. Andy Dalton does a great job of leading the offense from the quarterback position. Dalton has thrown for over 2,000 yards and has 17 touchdowns to just 4 interceptions. Dalton is also a solid runner that can make plays with his legs. TCU has three tailbacks with at least 82 carries, and each of them averages more than 5 yards per carry, including freshman sensation Ed Wesley who averages 6.8 yards per carry. Dalton likes to spread the wealth to different receivers and six players have at least 14 receptions for this team. The TCU defense is one of the best in the nation. They are allowing just 13 points per game and a measly 245 yards per game. TCU held BYU to just 7 points on the road and Clemson to just 10.

Wyoming has also been good to those who have made predictions on them against the spread as they have gone 7-2 ATS this season. Freshman quarterback Austyn Carta-Samuels has come in and done a very good job leading the Cowboys offense. The freshman has thrown just 3 interceptions and has thrown for over 1,500 yards since getting the starting  job. Carta-Samuels is another dual threat type quarterback who can scramble and get yardage when needed, which adds another weapon to the offense. David Leonard is the go to guy at wide receiver for the Cowboys with 63 receptions already on the season. As a whole the offense has struggled to score points on the year, averaging just 17.6 points per game. They have improved of late, but they have plenty more room for improvement. The Cowboys defense allows 27 points per game and has had a tough time stopping the run this season.

The odds for this weekend’s games show that TCU is a massive 31 point road favorite in this game. The posted total has been set at 47.5.  In this game we see that the Cowboys are just 4-10-1 against the spread in their last 15 home games and TCU is an impressive 36-18-1 against the spread in their last 57 games overall.

Expect TCU’s defense to be dominant in this one and the offense will continue to just methodically drive down the field and put their opponent away. The rushing attack for the Horned Frogs should be particularly efficient in this match up. TCU should roll to another victory.
