Scotty Hopson led the team in scoring (17 ppg) and was the team’s top e-point shooter (38 percent).

Tobias Harris averaged 15.3 points and 7.3 rebounds as the only other returning double-figure scorer. He also was second on the team in blocked shots (29).

Melvin Goins averaged 7.9 points per game and led the team in assists (93) and steals (57).

John Fields, as a part-time starter, played about 12 minutes per game but shot 59 percent from the floor and led the team in blocks (41) while recording 2.6 points and 3.0 rebounds per game.

2011-12 Preview

Cuonzo Martin, who had a successful three-year run at Missouri State, was named the new Tennessee head coach in March 2011. He will have few returning regulars and a lot of newcomers to incorporate into the rotation, so in order to compete in the SEC his team will have to grow up quickly. His philosophy is predicated on intense defensive pressure and solid technique, so expect Tennessee to be competitive defensively.

Backcourt

Senior Cameron Tatum is the lone returning starter from last year, averaging 8.8 points and 3.1 rebounds while leading the returners in assists (78) and steals (30).

Sophomore Trae Gordon scored 3.0 points per game and finished third on the team in assists (69) while playing about 13 minutes per game.

Junior Skylar McBee averaged 2.6 points per game over about 13 minutes of playing time per contest.

Frontcourt

Junior Jeronne Maymon averaged 2.6 points and 2.8 rebounds in about nine minutes per game over 14 contests. He is the top returning frontcourt player in scoring and rebounding average.

Junior Kenny Hall posted 2.0 points and 1.8 rebounds per game over seven minutes per game, while senior Renaldo Wooridge played in just eight games, averaging 1.6 points and 1.4 rebounds over nine minutes per contest.

Junior Dwight Miller comes to Tennessee from Midland Junior College, while junior Rob Murphy spent two years at Lipscomb University.
