Houston Texans vs. Indianapolis Colts NFL Betting Odds & Spread
Written November 13, 2008 by Jason Lowry

The Colts are winners of two straight after there first win in 40 years on the road against the Steelers, as they took home a 24-20 win, and this week they host the Houston Texans, who they needed a ridiculous finish against to beat earlier in the season. The Texans on the other hand didn’t have such good luck, as they got beat up by the Ravens at home 41-13 last week. For those of you looking to do a little NFL betting this week, the oddsmakers have the Colts 8.5 point favorites over the Texans at Bookmaker.com
The Texans offense had been pretty solid all year, but simply had no answer for the Ravens strong defense last Sunday, as backup Sage Rosenfels threw for 294 yards and a touchdown, but had 4 huge interceptions. That wasn’t all of the struggles for the Ravens, as Ryan Moats led the way rushing with 34 yards, as rookie Steve Slaton only mustered 7 yards on 4 carries. Andre Johnson was kept quiet for a second straight week by his standards, as he had just 7 catches for 66 yards. With Rosenfels likely the starter again this week, you have to remember what this guy went through last time he faced the Colts, as the Texans had it won before his two huge fumbles late in the game.
The Texans defense didn’t look much better last week, and that was a little disappointing in front of the home crowd, as the Ravens aren’t known to be an offensive team, yet they were able to put up 41. They let rookie Joe Flacco throw for 185 and 2 scores, plus had no answer for Willis McGahee who had 112 yards and 2 scores. The defense didn’t create any turnovers in this one, but did manage to get 3 sacks. Now they will need that pressure against Manning and the Colts if they want another shot at spoiling the Colts season. Bet Texans +8.5 at Bookmaker.com
The Colts come into this one back over .500 at 5-4 and are right in the mix of things in the AFC playoff picture, as no team besides the Titans are having a real great season so far. Last week the Colts needed another come from behind win to get the W, as they used 3 interceptions from Ben Roethlisberger to get things turned around. Peyton Manning looked a little better in this one throwing for 240 yards and 3 scores, but the running game was weak as Addai and Rhodes combined for just 62 yards on 19 carries. This week against the Texans we think the Colts running game will finally break loose, as we don’t think the Texans will have much fight in them on the road this week.
The Colts defense really did a good job making sure that when Roethlisberger made a bad throw he payed for it, and after giving up 17 first half points, this unit simply shut it down, giving up just 3 points the rest of the way. They did let Mewelde Moore score two short touchdowns early, but really held him in check, giving up just 57 yards. The Colts defense will have to worry more about the passing game this week, cause if you remember back to the first time these two teams played Rosenfels was the reason the Texans were on top before those late turnovers that cost the Texans the game. It will be interesting to see if this Colts teams continues to get better, or continues to struggle to find its way. Bet Colts – 8.5 at Bookmaker.com
