With only three players returning from last season, Texas Tech lost majority of their team. John Roberson, Mike Singletary, Brad Reese, and David Tairu who are the team’s top four scorers and played the most minutes, won’t be part of this year’s squad. The Red Raiders will miss the high-percentage 3-point shooting of Roberson and the defensive tenacity of Reese.

2011-12 Preview
The 2011-12 Texas Tech team is a whole different squad from what they had last season. Coach Gillispie looks to build on the success from last season with this group that consists of a lot of newcomers.
Backcourt
Returning guard Javarez Willis will help man the backcourt this season. He played in 27 games last season for the Red Raiders, averaging 3.9 points and 1.5 assists per game as a freshman and is capable of more this year.
Helping him out will be DeShon Minnis and Kevin Wagner. Minnis averaged 18.5 points, 6.0 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2.8 steals per game in 2010-11. Wagner, who came from Lubbock Estacado, averaged 16.8 points, 3.6 assists, 2.0 steals and 2.2 rebounds a game last year.
Frontcourt
Providing inside presence for Texas Tech are returning players Robert Lewandowski and Jaye Crocket. Lewandowski, the lone senior on the squad, played in 95 career games for the Red Raiders and averaged 8.5 points and 4.8 rebounds last season. Meanwhile, Crocket though averaging only averaging 4.8 points and 3.0 rebounds as a freshman, played in all 32 games last season and will be heavily relied upon this year.
Also playing for the frontline of Texas Tech is Terran Petreway and Cameron Forte. Petteway is a two-time All-State and All-District selection, earning two Offensive MVP and Player of the Year awards and All-Region honors. He averaged 27 points, nine rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. Forte, on the other hand, averaged a state of Arizona best 36.2 points and 12.7 rebounds.
