Texas Tech at Colorado

This Saturday the Colorado Buffaloes will host the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Big 12 action. The Buffaloes lost their second straight game last week, as they fell 31-25 to Baylor at home. The Red Raiders were also on the losing end of things last week, as they lost 34-17 at home against Oklahoma State. The Red Raiders will be looking for their first ever win at Colorado, as they are 0-4 in Boulder. If you are thinking about betting on the game this weekend, the current odds have the Red Raiders listed as 2.5-point favorites over the Buffaloes on the road.
Texas Tech (3-3 1-3 Big 12): The Red Raiders have really been up and down this season, as they followed up an embarrassing loss at Iowa State with a nice win over Baylor, only to lose last week to the Cowboys. The loss against the Cowboys was the Red Raiders second loss at home this season, they had lost just twice at Lubbock the past three seasons.
The Red Raiders really dug themselves a big hole early, as they were forced to punt on their first five possessions, while the Cowboys jumped out to a 21-0 lead. The Red Raiders bounced back with two touchdowns right before half, but turned the ball over twice in the second half and managed just one more touchdown.
The Red Raiders racked up 401 yards of total offense against the Cowboys, but the defense gave up 581 yards and allowed Oklahoma State to control the ball for nearly 9 more minutes than the Red Raiders.
Colorado (3-3, 0-2 Big 12): The Buffaloes got off to a great start against Baylor last week, as they opened up a 15-10 halftime lead, but the defense fell apart in the second half and the offense only managed to score 10 additional points. Colorado got a couple of nice performances from quarterback Tyler Hansen and running back Rodney Stewart. Hansen completed 21 of 28 attempts for 207 yards and a touchdown, while Stewart ran for 125 yards on 30 carries and scored two first half touchdowns to get the Buffaloes out in front.
Defensively the Buffaloes really didn’t have a good game at all, as the Baylor offense didnt have to punt once the entire game. The score would have been much worse had the Bears not turned it over three times and missed a field goal. Baylor finished with 543 yards of total offense, including 309 yards on the ground. Colorado was extremely fortunate to even be in the game.
Looking at the Odds: I think there is great value on the Red Raiders this weekend, as I think they have a great shot at running away with this game, but even if they don’t you have to like them to win by at least a field goal. My final score prediction is Texas Tech 38, Colorado 31.
Got something to say?
