Tennessee Titans at Minnesota Vikings NFL Betting Odds
Written September 25, 2008 by Brad Marchetti

The 3-0 Tennessee Titans will defend their undefeated record at home this Sunday against the disappointing Minnesota Vikings. The Tennessee Titans vs Minnesota Vikings game will pit two new Quarterbacks against each other. The Titans will send strong armed 14th year veteran Kerry Collins (90.7 passer rating) against the Vikings Gus Frerotte. Frerotte, also has a gun and, he is an improvement over Tarvaris Jackson. Can Minnesota still do enough damage with A.P at 80% health to upset the Titans on the road? The NFL betting odds for the Minnesota Vikings vs Tennessee Titans game is Tennessee -3 points.
Minnesota franchise RB Adrian Peterson is not 100% healthy. With Peterson at 80%, the Vikings would be wise to use backup Chester Taylor (4.1 yards per carry). The Titans defense is ranked 3rd in yards allowed in the AFC. Tennessee is built to stop the run and Minnesota will need help through the air. The Vikings could be without starting WR Sidney Rice. #1 Vikings WR Bernard Berrian (4.40 40-speed) has made some plays downfield and he will challenge a group of stingy Titans covermen. Titans coach Jeff Fisher has a physical defense that will have the upper edge in the trenches against a short-handed Vikings O-Line. The NFL betting odds for the Minnesota Vikings vs Tennessee Titans OVER\UNDER is at 36 points.

The Titans are better off with new QB Kerry Collins at the helm for the time being. Collins is a nice fit for an offense that has an explosive element with rookie RB Chris Johnson (4.24 40-speed). Johnson has been torching opposing defenses for 5.5 yards per carry along with 260 Lb. battering ram RB LenDale White (4 TD’s). Minnesota has been violent as usual on defense with a top notched run defense allowing only 70.3 yards per game. The Vikings weakness lies in their short-handed secondary. The Vikings will need to deal with an emerging Titans wideout crew led by 6′3″ 250 Lb. TE Bo Scaife (10 rec. 137 yds. 1 TD). Also a dangerous threat is WR Justin McCareins (4.40 40-speed). The Vikings will need DE Jared Allen to be a menace off the edge against immobile Titans QB Kerry Collins.
The Titans are playing at a high level right now for head coach Jeff Fisher (118-99 career). Minnesota has the nasty defense that teams crave but, can a hobbled offense help keep the defense off the field? The Titans are good for now with Kerry Collins but when does turnover prone Kerry return?
Predicted Score: Titans 20, Vikings 17
