UCLA at USC Line

This Saturday the No. 10 USC Trojans will finish up their season at home against the UCLA Bruins. This cross-city rivalry has been all USC. The Trojans have won four straight and nine of 10 overall, including a 28-14 win at UCLA last season.  Both teams come in playing some of their best football of the season. USC just went on the road and beat Oregon 38-35 for their six win in their last seven games, while the Bruins crushed Colorado 45-6 at home for their third win in four weeks.

Taking a look at the week 13 lines, oddsmakers currently have USC favored by 14.5-points over UCLA with the total set at 48.5 points.

UCLA:

The Bruins became bowl eligible with their win over Colorado last week, and thanks to the Trojans not being eligible for postseason play, the Bruins can win the PAC-12 South if they can upset USC. For that to happen,  UCLA is going to have to play better on the road than they have of late. UCLA is just 1-4 on the road this season, and have lost their last three games away from home by a combined 87 points.

UCLA would like to see the offense come out and play like it did against the Buffaloes last week. The Bruins piled on 553 yards of total offense, and did it with both the pass and the run. Kevin Prince went 15 of 19 for 225 yards and four touchdowns, and was also a factor on the ground with 84 yards on just 10 attempts.

The Bruins rushing attack finished with 328 yards on 44 attempts, and it was Jonathan Franklin who did most of the damage with 162 yards to go with a touchdown on 15 attempts. Getting that kind of production against the Trojans won’t be easy. USC is 16th in the country against the run, allowing just 110.3 ypg. USC did give up 209 yards in the win over Oregon last week, but that total was well under the Ducks season average of over 284 ypg.

USC:

The fact that the Trojans can’t play past this week, hasn’t seem to take the focus away from this team. While they are coming off a big game against Oregon, I expect the Trojans to play extremely hard in this game against the Trojans. The last thing USC wants to do is let UCLA advance to the inaugural PAC-12 Championship Game by beating them on their home turf.

Matt Barkley continued to make his case for next year’s NFL draft with another big time performance against a very good team. Barkley went 26 of 34 for 323 yards and four touchdowns against a talented Ducks defense, and I look for him to come out looking to finish his career at USC with another great performance.

If the Trojan’s running backs have their say, Barkley won’t have to have a big game for USC to blow this game wide open. Curtis McNeal and Mark Tyler combined for 143 yards and a touchdown against the Ducks, and go up against a UCLA defense that has had their struggles against the run. The Bruins are 78th in the country against the run, allowing 180.8 ypg.

Betting Trends:

UCLA is 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. win.

USC is 4-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
