Saturday, March 1st UFC fans get to watch one of the best fighters the UFC has to offer when Anderson “The Spider” Silvia takes on Dan “Hollywood” Henderson. Silvia is considered by many as the best pound for pound fighter in the world. Before this fight fans will have the chance to watch two of the best heavyweights the sport has to offer when the “Texas Crazy Horse” Heath Herring takes on the powerful Cheick Kongo. With these two big time fights set to take place, the Nationwide Center in Columbus, Ohio is the place to be. Lets take quick look at these two fights along with a quick glance at some of the other fights scheduled to take place that night.
Silvia vs. Henderson
With Silvia the UFC middleweight champion and Henderson the Pride middleweight champion these two fighters will square off the unification middleweight title. Silvia has a very impressive MMA record at 20 -4, with a 5-0 record in the UFC. Henderson will come in at 22-6, and try and put a stop to Silvia’s winning ways. Many believe that Henderson is one of the few fighters left that can challenge Silvia in the middleweight division. Silvia uses his incredible ability of putting together breath taking combos that many times leave his opponents laying on the mat. Henderson is more of the wrestler of the two, and should be able to withstand the great deal of punishment Silvia will enforce once the fight begins. This is definetly a fight you must watch if you are a true UFC fan, as you have the chance to see Silvia’s dominance continue or maybe a new leader will emerge in Henderson if he is able to walk away victorious.

Herring vs. Kongo
In a battle of two big time heavyweights this should be a true stand up fight with each fighter exchanging powerful punches, knees and kicks. The winner will undoubtly move closer to a shot at the heavyweight title currently held by Randy Couture. Herring comes into the fight at 27-13-1 and is known for his ability to send his opponent to the ground. In each one of his fights he has either used a punch, knee, or kick to send the other fighter to the mat. Kongo comes in with the much better record at 21-3-1 and seems to improve each and every fight. While the fight isn’t expected to be fought on the ground the edge would have to go to Herring if it does. This should be an excellent fight and a great warm-up to the main event.
