UFC 86

Written June 23, 2008 by Jason Lowry

While there is plenty to get excited about over the 4th of July weekend, there is a little extra excitement for UFC fans. On Saturday July 5th Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will defend his Light Heavyweight title against Forrest Griffin at UFC 86 live from the Mandalay Bay Events Center. After finishing up their duties as coaches for the Ultimate Fighter last weekend, its time for these two guys to show their teams what UFC fight is all about. For those that don’t follow the sport Griffin was the first ever winner of the Ultimate Fighter show. Not only do you get a spectacular main event, be sure to watch the Patrick Cote vs. Ricardo Almeida fight as well. Jason Lowry is locked in on all the fights and is ready to make all of his UFC 86 Predictions, as we are only a couple weeks away from another great night of pay-per-view action.

Sports Betting at the Sportsbook

Quinton Jackson vs. Forrest Griffin
Jackson -260
Griffin +200
This fight alone is worth taking some time out of your holiday weekend to watch. Both fighters are sick of each other after spending so much time around each other on the Ultimate Fighter. Jackson is coming off two very impressive wins with a knockout of Chuck Liddell and a unanimous decision over Dan Henderson. After suffering a tough knock out loss to Keith Jardine, Griffin has bounced back looking better than ever with a unanimous decision over Hector Ramirez and a huge win over Mauricio Ruo by a choke submission.
Winner: Quinton Jackson -260

Patrick Cote vs. Ricardo Almeida
Cote -105
Almeida -125
This fight is about as close as you get in the UFC. Cote is coming off 3 straight wins after starting out 0-4 in the UFC. Cote’s last two wins have came by the way of knock out over Kendall Grove and Drew McFedries. Almeida comes in with only 4 fights in the UFC with a 2-2 record. Almeida will attempt to win 2 in a row for the first time after choking out Rob Yundt at UFC 81.
Winner: Cote -105

Joe Stevenson vs. Gleison Tibau
Stevenson -215
Tibau +175
You get two experienced fighters in this one, and Stevenson will look to get back to winning after losing to the great BJ Penn at UFC 80 by choke. Stevenson had won his previous 4 fights in the UFC. Like Stevenson, Tibau is coming off a loss as well, as he lost to Tyson Griffin by unanimous decision at UFC 81. Tibau also had a winning streak going, as he had piled up 3 straight wins before the loss.
Winner: Stevenson -215

Josh Koscheck vs. Chris Lytle
Koscheck -315
Lytle +240
Koscheck is a great new fighter in the UFC as he has worked his way to a 13-2 record. Koscheck has won 6 of his last 7, with the only loss coming in a unanimous decision loss to George St-Pierre at UFC 74. Lytle is the much more experienced fighter with 54 career MMA fights, but has only been okay in the UFC with a 7-7 record. Lytle has fought some big names like Hughes, Serra and Alves, but has yet to get that big win over a big name. He comes into the fight after a knock out victory of Kyle Bradley at UFC 81.
Winner: Koscheck -315

Tyson Griffin vs. Marcus Aurelio
Griffin -350
Aurelio +280
Griffin comes in with a 11-1 record in MMA and is coming into the fight off 3 straight wins in the UFC, all by decision. Aurelio is a respectable 14-5 in MMA, and has a two win streak going in the UFC with a knock out of Luke Caudillo and a arm lock submission win over Ryan Roberts.
Winner: Aurelio +280
