Utah at TCU College Football Betting Lines

Written November 13, 2009 by Kyle Hunter

It may not have the same hype as some of the other games this weekend because the names aren’t so traditional, but the Utah and TCU game is one of the biggest games of the weekend. You’ll definitely want to keep your eye on the experts college football picks for this huge game. TCU has now moved up to #4 in the BCS standings so there are definitely some national title hopes resting on this game. Last year it was Utah who went undefeated all year, and this year TCU is trying to accomplish the feat, but the main thing between them and an undefeated season is a match up with the Utes this Saturday night. The Utah Utes lost a lot of talent from last year’s team that went unbeaten, but they still have a very formidable team this year. Utah is ranked #14 in the country and comes into this game at 8-1. Jordan Wynn will be making just his second collegiate start in this game as he replaced Terrance Cain in the starting lineup last game. Wynn is a very impressive freshman quarterback who has sparked the offense in his short time at quarterback in the last game and a half. The Utes have a strong running game with Eddie Wide, who has rushed for 810 yards and averages 6.2 yards per carry on the season. The Utah defense has been consistently very good this season, allowing just 16.4 points per game and 299 yards per game.

TCU jumped to 4th in the BCS rankings last weekend and they know that anything can happen, so they need to win out and possibly have a chance at the BCS title game. The Horned Frogs have been completely dominant of late thanks to a swarming defense and an underrated offense. Andy Dalton is the perfect quarterback for TCU’s offense as he can make plays with his legs or his arm and he makes very wise decisions with the football. Dalton has thrown 16 touchdowns to just 3 interceptions this season. TCU is stacked at running back with 3 runners with at least 74 carries and each of them gaining more than 5 yards per carry on the season. The offense has been able to control the ball and put up 37 points per game this season. The defense is absolutely tremendous, led by defensive lineman Jerry Hughes. For the season they are allowing just 11 points per game, and in the last 3 games they are giving up just 6 points per game.

The college football odds for the weekend show TCU as a 20 point home favorite. Clearly the odds makers have been very impressed by TCU’s play of late. The posted total is set at 47 points. When making your own football picks for this game consider these two trends: TCU is 43-18 against the spread in its last 61 home games, and the under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.

The Utah offense will likely have a whole lot of problems getting anything going against TCU in this one. Wynn will be pressured in a big way and TCU should be able to control the time of possession. TCU should move on and stay unbeaten.
