Value Jockeys for Horse Racing Betting
Written January 15, 2008 by Jack Jones
If you are looking to cash more tickets at the track then maybe you should start looking for value jockeys. These are the guys that are just as good as the 6 or 7 guys on any racing circuit but don’t have the same reputation and thus don’t get mounted on the prestigious horses.
Of course the horse plays the most important role. They are like the star players on the best football, basketball, and baseball teams. In horse racing, it’s the horse that makes the jockey and the trainer, but in reality there is very little that separates the best of the best from the lower horses on a major circuit.
Sharp bettors though realize that top riders can get their horses in trouble, but the public just chalks up these mistakes to bad luck out there. If you take that same great horse and put a lesser rider on there, then if the horse gets into trouble everyone will start blaming the jockey.
You have to find the jockeys at your local track that get all the prime mounts and the guys who are just as good but don’t. This is going to take some monitoring on your part so do your homework. You’ll often find more value in these middle of the range horses than you will be laying the big chalk, and chalk is what you’ll find from the big named jockeys.
