Cardinals Vikings Football

The Arizona Cardinals clinched the NFC West last week, and will host a a playoff game for the first time in 61 years, now even though they are a lock for the postseason, its likely they will still try and keep on winning when they take on the NFC North leading Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings kept their one game lead over the Bears in the North with a 20-16 win over the Lions last week, while the Cardinals beat up on the Rams 34-10 to clinch the West. For those of you looking to do some NFL betting this weekend, the oddsmakers have the Cardinals 3 point favorites at home over the Vikings at BetUS.com

The Vikings didn’t exactly beat up on the Lions like many thought they would, as everyone though Adrian Peterson was going to run wild on this defense, but instead Peterson had just 102 yards and had troubles holding on to the football, as he put it on the ground 3 times but was lucky enough to not lose any of them. Tarvaris Jackson had to step in for Gus Frerotte in the 2nd half, and really played well completing 8 of 10 passes for 105 yards and a score, and it looks like Jackson will get the start this week against the Cardinals. Now the Vikings offense could really need to put some points on the board this week, as the Cardinals are capable of putting up big numbers at home.

Now that could wind up not even being a problem if the defense is able to get some pressure on Kurt Warner and the Cardinals, as Warner really struggles when he is forced to get rid of the football before he wants. It looks like the Vikings will be full strength up front as both William’s are expected to play. Last week they struggled against the pass allowing Duante Culpepper throw for 220 yards, and it better get better against Warner who is having one of his best season ever. The Cardinals got the much needed win last week against the Rams, as they had come in losers of two straight. Kurt Warner had 279 yards passing, but just one touchdown that came on a 12 yard strike to Larry Fitzgerald in the 1st quarter. That touchdown pass wound up being the last offensive touchdown this team scored, but its not like they needed much against the Rams. Tim Hightower didn’t have a big day yardage wise running for just 32 yards, but was able to get the Cardinals on the board early with a 1 yard touchdown run. Now with the Vikings strong against the run, we expect Warner to have a big day threw the air, or this team could wind up losing this one at home.

Now the defense picked up some of offenses slack, as they first got a touchdown on a 11 yard fumble return by Darnell Dockett in the 3rd quarter, and then a 99 yard interception for a score by rookie corner Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. The biggest thing to take from last weeks game is they let Steven Jackson run for just 64 yards on 19 carries, and they will have to carry over that effort this week when they try and control the Vikings rushing attack of Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor.
