Villanova vs. American March Madness Picks & Odds

This Thursday the No.3 seeded Villanova Wildcats take on the No.14 seeded American Eagles in first round action of the NCAA Tournament. It goes to show just how tough this region is when the Wildcats are the No.3 seed. To get you ready for the upcoming action here is a closer look at each of these teams, and my prediction on who I see advancing to the 2nd round.
No.3 Villanova Wildcats -16.5 ATS at Bookmaker.com. The Wildcats finished 4th in the Big East this season, but were knocked out of the Big East Conference Tournament by Louisville. The Wildcats should have no troubles playing in the Wachovia Center, as they play a couple big games here every season. The Wildcats know what they are getting from Scottie Reynolds and Dante Cunningham, as the two combine to average 30 points per game. The Wildcats need someone else to step up in the tournament if they want to make it back to the Sweet 16 and possibly make a run at the Final 4.
No.14 American Eagles +16.5 ATS at Bookmaker.com.The Eagles are not going to be an easy out in this one, as they have the experienced needed to play well in the tournament. The Eagles dominated the Patriot League this year, as they had just 1 loss in the regular season. The experience starts with senior guard Garrison Car, as Car leads the Eagles with a 17.8 scoring average, but thats not it as fellow seniors Derrick Mercer and Brian Gilmore are also a big part of the Eagles offensive attack. If these three can keep their composure and stay away from turning it over, they could be in this game to the end.
My Prediction: Villanova -16.5 The Wildcats are just far to good to lose this game, and while American will give them a possible scare early, this team won’t let a small school team beat them down the stretch. I look for Reynolds and Cunningham to pretty much dominate this game, and I got the Wildcats winnings this game by 18-20.
