Wake Forest at Maryland College Football Picks & Predictions

Wake Forest heads into Maryland for a key game in ACC play. Wake Forest is arguably the best team on paper in the conference, and look for them to prove that in this one. Wake Forest plays a team in Maryland that quite frankly just isn’t that good. Jay Todd is going to take a look at the college football odds on this game, which at BetUS have Wake as a 1.5 point favorite over Maryland.

Wake Forest bring a very stringent defense and a ball controlled and smart offense to the table. The Deacons are giving up just 15 points per game and have forced a staggering 18 turnovers. With Maryland having such an inconsistent offense, (losses against Middle Tennessee State and a shut out against Virginia show this) look for Wake to get a lot of pressure on Maryland quarterback Chris Turner. Turner has thrown six interceptions so far this season. Look for Wake to take complete advantage of such an iffy offense.

Wake Forest has four wins this year, all of which came against bowl teams. The play of Riley Skinner is mainly the reason for the Deacons’ success. Skinner is completing nearly 70% of his passes and is a pure winner. He does whatever it takes to get the job done and you have to love that in a quarterback. Skinner can make plays with his feet, whether it is scrambling to pick up positive yardage or throwing on the run, he can do it all. Skinner has had Maryland’s number in his career, as he is 2-0 against them. Riley Skinner will be the difference in this game.
