Super Bowl Predictions: Hines Ward Props
Written January 29, 2009 by Jason Lowry

The Super Bowl is just a few days away, and Hines Ward is still not practicing for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but Ward swears he is going to be on the field when it comes time to face the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday. Ward had another great season for the Steelers grabbing 81 passes for 1,043 yards and 7 touchdowns, and was really having a solid postseason, before having to sit out most of the AFC Championship game against the Ravens. In the two games he had 7 catches for 125 yards, but was kept out of the endzone. Ward has a heart of a champion, and for those that can remember back to the 2005 in the Steelers Super Bowl win over the Seahawks, he was the MVP after grabbing 5 balls for 123 yards and a touchdown. For those of you looking to do a little NFL betting on the game this weekend, here is a look at the prop bets for Hines Ward at Sportsbook.com.
Total Receiving Yards: Over 65.5 (-115) Under 65.5 (-115)
It’s really hard to predict just what kind of game Ward is going to have coming off his injury, and though we don’t doubt for one second that he will be on the field to at least start this game. We think Ward is going to make some plays, but we just don’t think he is going to be the big play guy in this one, as we think the Steelers are going to pound the football, and Santonio Holmes has really stepped into the go to guy this postseason. When it comes down to it we think Ward ends up with about 45 yards in this one.
Longest Reception: Over 22.5 (-115) Under 22.5 (-115)
We just don’t see Ward being able to make those same cuts and use his speed with his injury so its hard to imagine this guy catching a ball for more than 22 yards in this one. We are going under on this one.
Total Receptions: Over 5 (+105) Under 5 (-135)
We are keeping the same trend on this one, as we just don’t think Ward is going to come into the Super Bowl and just return to the same player he was without the injury. We are thinking about 3 catches top for Ward in the Super Bowl.
Will He Score a Touchdown: Yes (+135) No (-170)
Now Ward could have a terrible game with just a couple catches and still grab a touchdown in this one, but we like the chances of him not finding the endzone, as he hasn’t done so all postseason, and really wasn’t a big touchdown threat this season.
Total Receiving Yards on First Reception: Over 10.5 (-115) Under 10.5 (-115)
Again we just aren’t banking on Ward coming out and having a huge game in this one, but this guy is going to play and if he hauls in a catch it could very easily go for at least 11 yards, so we are taking the over 10.5 on this one.
