Week 10 College Football Predictions

The marquee match up of the weekend is #9 LSU at #3 Alabama. Alabama can clinch a spot in the SEC Championship game with a win, but LSU still has plenty to play for with just one loss this season. The defenses should rule in this one. The team that establishes a solid running game and takes care of the football should win. The Tide have the more consistent running game. Prediction: Alabama 20 LSU 10

The Ohio State Buckeyes travel to Happy Valley in a massive Big 10 conference match up. Terrelle Pryor has fallen far short of expectations for Ohio State and this will be a huge opportunity for him to step up in front of a very hostile crowd. Both defenses are great, but Penn State’s offense and the home field will probably be just enough. This one could go either way. Prediction: Penn State 21 Ohio State 17

#1 Florida hosts Vanderbilt in what should be a major mismatch. The Commodores have a terrible offense and may have trouble scoring at all in this one. Florida’s defense will flex its muscle in a big way in this one. Prediction: Florida 42 Vanderbilt 3

Cincinnati has risen to #5 in the BCS Standings and they have a real chance at making the title game if things fall correctly. It appears Tony Pike may play at least some Saturday, which is a great sign for them. They have too much talent for UConn to keep up. Prediction: Cincinnati 38 UConn 14

#6 Iowa has a way of coming back and just finding a way to win games. This weekend they face Northwestern at home. The NCAA football odds show Iowa as a 16 point favorite, but Iowa tends to find a way to win close so I’ll say they stay on track with another fairly close win. Prediction: Iowa 28 Northwestern 14

Potential BCS buster TCU just keeps on winning football games. This weekend TCU travels to San Diego State. Look for more of the same, domination by TCU on both sides of the football. This team is very good. Prediction: TCU 38 San Diego State 10

The Friday night game on ESPN features the Boise State Broncos against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. Boise State is running out of chances to show just how impressive they are, so they need to win, and win in a big way. Prediction: Boise State 41 Louisiana Tech 14

The #2 Texas Longhorns have really picked it up in the last couple weeks with huge wins over Missouri and Oklahoma State. This weekend they go out of conference to take on Central Florida. Needless to say Central Florida will be out-manned in this one in a big way. Prediction: Texas 48 Central Florida 10

The Oregon Ducks turned plenty of heads last weekend with their easy win over USC. Oregon is for real and their rushing attack is one of the top two or three in the country. Stanford is much better than they have been and this team should make a bowl, but they won’t be able to stop Jeremiah Masoli and crew. Prediction: Oregon 35 Stanford 20

#20 Oklahoma will travel to take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers in an interesting Big 12 showdown. Nebraska’s offense has really stalled out of late, which isn’t good for them since the Sooners have a great defense. Oklahoma should go into Lincoln and win. Prediction: Oklahoma 28 Nebraska 17

Don’t look now but Georgia Tech and their option offense have been confusing teams all year and the Jackets are now 8-1 and knocking on the door of the top 10. This week Wake Forest will get its chance at stopping Nesbitt, Dwyer and company. They won’t stop them. Prediction: Georgia Tech 35 Wake Forest 20

Most football picks will be telling you to count on USC to bounce back in a big way this weekend against Arizona State. The Trojans will win this one and they’ll likely cover the spread easily to prove a point. Prediction: USC 31 Arizona State 10
