Week 13 College Football Power Rankings

Written November 24, 2009 by Kyle Hunter

The season is winding down and the games are meaning more each and every week. If you want to bet on football sign up with Bodog and fund your account and receive an unlimited bonus of 10%. Here’s how the top 25 stack up as of right now.

  1. Florida- The Gators did nothing to prove a thing last weekend by playing Florida International, but we know this team is extremely good and is still the team to beat until proven otherwise. Tebow and the Gators often rise to the occasion and I’d expect the same this year.
  2. Texas- The Texas offense has really gotten going of late, specifically Colt McCoy. McCoy and Shipley are the best quarterback and wide receiver tandem in the country. The defense stumbled a bit last weekend, but they are very good.
  3. Alabama- The practical scrimmage against Chattanooga didn’t do anything to help them, but the Tide definitely have the ability to beat the Gators in the SEC Championship game. First up they must beat their rival the Auburn Tigers this weekend. They won’t look past this rivalry.
  4. TCU- The Horned Frogs and their amazing defense are very impressive. Lost in the all hype of the defense is the fact that TCU has a VERY good offensive football team as well. I don’t think any of the big boys would want to play TCU.
  5. Cincinnati- The Bearcats host Illinois this weekend before heading to Pittsburgh in what should be a tremendous Big East football game. Cincinnati needs a lot of help, but they aren’t completely out of the title talk just yet.
  6. Boise State- The Broncos continue to dismantle their opponents, but the fact is their opponents just aren’t very good and everyone understands that. The Boise State offense is one of the best in the country, and Kellen Moore deserves more hype than he gets.
  7. Georgia Tech- Paul Johnson and the Yellow Jackets face off against their arch enemy this weekend in the Georgia Bulldogs. Anything can happen in this game, and this will be the first time Tech has the target on its back in a while. The college football odds page shows Georgia Tech as a 7.5 point favorite in this rivalry game.
  8. Oregon- The Ducks got a huge come from behind win in Arizona Saturday. That win sets up a massive home game against their in-state rival Oregon State. The Oregon rushing attack is just about as good as they come!
  9. Pittsburgh- The Panthers are going to be tested in a big way in the last two weeks. This week they will match up against West Virginia in their massive rivalry. Next weekend they’ll host Cincinnati. We’ll find out a lot about Pitt in the next 2 weeks.
  10. Ohio State- The Buckeyes defense is amazing and made Tate Forcier look pretty bad on Saturday. The running game has improved, but they are still a conservative team. They are done until the Rose Bowl now, when they will face the winner of the Pac 10.
  11. Iowa- The Hawkeyes defense is very good as well, and while they haven’t been winning in impressive fashion, they certainly do win. Their name will be in the discussion for a BCS berth, but it all depends on how things play out.
  12. Oklahoma State- The Cowboys gutted out a win without Zac Robinson last weekend, but to beat Oklahoma this weekend they’ll likely need Robinson.
  13. Virginia Tech- The Hokies defense and ground game has gotten much better as the season goes along.
  14. Penn State- The Nittany Lions had their best showing of the year last Saturday, especially in the second half.
  15. Clemson- The Tigers are firing on all cylinders and C.J. Spiller is showing just how great he really is!
  16. Oregon State
  17. BYU
  18. LSU
  19. Miami
  20. Ole Miss
  21. North Carolina
  22. Utah
  23. Nebraska
  24. Houston
  25. USC

The football predictions from many of the major magazines are pretty far off so far if you look from about #5 on down, but numbers one through three continue to hang on.

My college football picks have been on the mark now for two straight weekends. Last weekend I was 6-1 and this weekend I went 6-2, including 4-0 on 3 star plays. Check out my premium packages this week as I try to keep crushing the books!
