How does the Top 25 look heading into bowl action? Last weekend definitely changed the landscape quite a bit!

  1. Alabama- The Crimson Tide were easily the most impressive team last weekend. The 490 total yards on offense shocked almost everyone. I’m not shocked they defeated Florida, but the way they did it was very impressive.
  2. Texas- Whoever said one second isn’t important? It certainly was important to Texas this past weekend! Nebraska and Suh made it extremely difficult, but the Longhorns just did make their way into the title game. The fact that the early college betting lines show Texas a 6 point underdog is indicative of the disappointment with their performance in the Big 12 Championship game.
  3. TCU- It’s a very difficult call for who should be ranked 3rd in the country, but I’ll give the nod to the team with the best defense. The Horned Frogs defense is dominant and the offense is very underrated.
  4. Cincinnati- A very impressive come from behind win for the Bearcats. The defense and it’s inability to stop the run is concerning, but the offense and specifically Mardy Gilyard, were absolutely terrific!
  5. Florida- The Gators just didn’t have their A game on Saturday evening. It was shocking that the defense looked so bad in such a big game. This team just wasn’t quite as good last year’s squad that won it all.
  6. Boise State- The Broncos finished the regular season undefeated and their game against TCU should be a great one. A win would prove a whole lot to the naysayers of this team.
  7. Oregon- The Ducks had to fight hard against the Beavers, but they definitely earned their trip to the Rose Bowl. The running game is tremendous and Jeremiah Masoli is much improved.
  8. Ohio State- The Buckeyes will have a huge amount of time between games. Pryor and the Buckeye offense will need to put up some points to help their amazing defense against a high powered offense like Oregon.
  9. Georgia Tech- Tech won the rematch against Clemson in another terrific game this past Saturday. The option attack is a thing of beauty, unless you are the opposing defensive coordinator.
  10. Iowa- They have received some criticism for the way they win games this year, but they have proven to be a very good team and it will be a good match up with Georgia Tech.
  11. Virginia Tech- The Hokies have improved a lot over the course of the season and Beamer’s squad is now playing the type of football he loves to see them play, tough defense and ball control on offense.
  12. LSU- The Tigers will face Penn State in the Capital One Bowl in one of the best match ups outside of the BCS games.
  13. Penn State- The Nittany Lions have quite a bit to prove against LSU, since Penn State hasn’t really beaten anyone of significance this year.
  14. Miami- The Hurricanes have turned their program around in a big way and have been rewarded with a nice match up against Wisconsin.
  15. Brigham Young- Max Hall and the Cougars finished the season strong with a win over their rivals.
  16. Pittsburgh- The Panthers really should have won that game against Cincinnati, but they let it slip away.
  17. Oregon State- The Beavers proved they are solid team in a tough loss against Oregon.
  18. West Virginia- The Mountaineers will take on Bobby Bowden in his final game at Florida State in the Gator Bowl.
  19. Stanford- If Andrew Luck is playing Stanford ranks at least this high, but they definitely need him healthy.
  20. Arizona- Mike Stoops has done a great job with Arizona this year and the win over USC was huge.
  21. Nebraska- The Cornhuskers showed a lot of grit last weekend.
  22. Oklahoma State- The Cowboys really laid an egg in a huge one against Oklahoma, they need to bounce back.
  23. Wisconsin- The Badgers are a tough team and should be a good test for Miami.
  24. Utah- The Utes are rebuilding this season, but they are still a very good program.
  25. Central Michigan- Easily the best team in the MAC, and a very dangerous team in general.

Stay tuned for more football predictions all through the bowl season. It’s the best time of the year for a college football fan.
