Week 16 NFL Odds

Written December 27, 2009 by Rock Henderson

Christmas night features a key AFC showdown between the red hot San Diego Chargers and the desperate Tennessee Titans. The Chargers have won eight in a row and will try to spoil the playoff efforts of Tennessee. Titans quarterback Vince Young has turned his career around and Chris Johnson will show a national audience why he is considered one of the top backs in the NFL. San Diego is a 3 point favorite.

Miami and Houston is just one of the intriguing match ups taking place in Week 16. Both teams sit at 7-7 and hold an outside chance of making the postseason as a wild card. The Dolphins rely heavily on Ricky Williams and are developing more trust in Chad Henne under center. Houston is trying to avoid a third straight season of .500 football. Matt Schaub leads an explosive offense that hang points on any defense. The Dolphins are a 3 point favorite.

The Steelers and Ravens will square off in a divisional game that should be played like a playoff game. Pittsburgh got a last second touchdown pass to beat Green Bay and re-enter the playoff picture. Baltimore sits at 8-6 and has already beaten the Steelers once this season. These two teams have a lot of history between them and another chapter will be added on Sunday. The Ravens are getting 2.5 points. Take advantage of the $20 free play Sportsbook.com is offering right now when you deposit at least $100 and start betting on the NFL now.

Denver is put into a tough spot this Sunday as they have to travel to the east coast and play the 10-4 Philadelphia Eagles. The Broncos are coming off their most disappointing loss of the season as they dropped a home game to the Raiders. Things get much tougher this week as the Eagles have been dismantling the opposition. Brian Westbrook is set to return for Philly. According to our NFL lines, the Eagles are a 7 point favorite.

Tony Romo finally got a huge monkey off of his back as the Boys won a key game in December. They will try to duplicate the effort when they travel to the nation’s capital and take on the Redskins. Washington laid an egg on Monday night versus the Giants. Most believe that they will pack it in these final two games to improve their draft position. Dallas still has plenty to play for. The Cowboys are a 7 point favorite.

The Jets will get a crack at the undefeated Colts this weekend. Peyton Manning will go against the top ranked defensive unit in the NFL. Not too many defenses have been able to slow down Manning and company this season. New York is a year or two away from being a legit contender as rookie QB Mark Sanchez has had some ups and downs in his first year. Indianapolis is a 5.5 point favorite.

Monday night football features a NFC North match up between the Vikings and Bears. There is trouble brewing in Minnesota as head coach Brad Childress and Brett Favre seem to have a disagreement on play calling. They will need to get things straightened out before the wheels fall completely off and they lose their first round bye. Things aren’t much more functional in Chi Town as Jay Cutler’s first year in town has been a complete disaster. The Vikings are a 7 point favorite.
