Week 2 College Football Betting Lines

Written September 9, 2009 by Rock Henderson

week-2-college-football-odds-090909Week 1 of the college football season got off to an exciting start and the lines are up for this weekend’s action.

The game of the week features the USC Trojans traveling to Columbus to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Trojans dismantled the Buckeyes a year ago and opened as a 6.5 point favorite in 09. Ohio State was unimpressive in the opener against Navy pulling out a 31 to 27 win. Can USC’s true freshman QB Matt Barkley handle the big stage?

An ACC with title implications will go down on Thursday night as Clemson plays at Georgia Tech. Both teams want to make a statement with a key early season victory in conference and they will have the national spotlight to do so. The Yellow Jackets are favored by 5.5.

If you are going to bet on college football this weekend, it’s not to late to take advantage of the amazing $500 bonus BetUS is offering our readers.  Just open up a new account, deposit at least $500, and BetUS will automatically add another $500 to your account.  It’s that simple!

Ames, IA will be the site for a clash between two rivals as the Iowa Hawkeyes take on the Iowa State Cyclones. The home team has won the last 5 meetings but the line reflects that trend to stop on Saturday. The Hawks are 6.5 point favorites.

Stanford will make the cross country flight to face the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The Cardinal are coming off an impressive thrashing of Pac 10 mate Washington State while Wake was upset at home by an athletic Baylor Bears team. Stanford is getting a field goal on the road.

Volunteer nation has been waiting over a year to get a chance to exact revenge on the huge upset the UCLA Bruins handed Tennessee last year. The loss seemed to derail the Volunteer season and also cost Phillip Fullmer his job. UCLA is an 8.5 point dog.

South Carolina takes on a quality opponent for the second week in a row with the Georgia Bulldogs on the schedule. Both teams struggled to score points last weekend and hope that offensive fireworks are in store this time around. Georgia is favored by a touchdown at home between the hedges.

Oregon’s game with the Purdue Boilmakers cannot come soon enough for the Ducks. Losing 19 to 8 in the opener and dismissing your starting RB to start off the 09′ campaign will leave a bad taste in any teams mouth. Both offenses should find the end zone plenty Saturday night. Oregon is giving 12 points.

What a difference a year makes. The Michigan Wolverines finally have the athletes they need to fit their system and it showed against Western Michigan as they sent a message with a 31 to 7 victory. Notre Dame was equally impressive as it continued its momemtum from their bowl game and dismantled the Nevada Wolfpack 35 to 0. I really like Michigan getting 3 at home.

The scoreboard will light up frequently when Houston makes the trip to Stillwater to see if they can keep up with OSU’s explosive offensive unit. The Cowboys are coming off a huge win against Georgia and take that momentum into the weekend. Oklahoma State is a 15 point favorite.
