Week 4 College Football Lines

We are already four weeks into the college football season!  Here’s a look at the odds for some of this week’s most interesting games.  You can click on each matchup for a more detailed look at each game.

Saturday September 24, 2011

12:00 PM EST |  Notre Dame at Pittsburgh (Notre Dame -6.5, O/U 54) – Notre Dame finally broke out with a big win over Michigan State last week.  Pitt built a big lead against Iowa before folding down the stretch.  Judging how Iowa moved the ball through the air on the Panthers they could be in for a long day versus the Irish.

12:00 PM EST |  North Carolina at Georgia Tech (Georgia Tech -6.5, O/U 58) – Both teams are undefeated, but this is the first true test of the season for either one of them.  North Carolina has played slightly better competition so far, but nothing that really indicates how good or bad of a team they are.

12:20 PM EST |  Georgia at Ole Miss (Georgia -10, O/U 54) – It’s been a rough start for both teams, but particularly for Georgia, who lost both of their big games to start the season (Boise State and Florida).  Luckily for them, this isn’t one of them.

3:30 PM EST |  Florida State at Clemson (Clemson -2, O/U 50) – The Seminoles are coming off of a disappointing loss to No. 1 Oklahoma last week, but this is a very important game to their season, particularly if they still have aspirations of making a BCS Bowl.  Clemson is off to a hot start, but I do think this will be a tougher game for them than last week’s win over a depleted Auburn team.

3:30 PM EST |  Arkansas at Alabama (Alabama -12, O/U 50.5) – Both teams sit at 3-0, but Arkansas didn’t look like the 14th-ranked team in the nation last week in a 38-28 win over Troy.  Alabama has looked impressive, particularly on defense, which will need to be sharp against this potent Razorback offense.

3:30 PM EST |  Oklahoma State at Texas A&M (Oklahoma State -4, O/U 69) – This is one of the most anticipated match ups in the Big 12 this season and for good reason.  Both offenses are a lot of fun to watch and there should be plenty of fireworks on that side of the ball.  The winner here will need to make stops or create turnovers.

3:30 PM EST |  Colorado at Ohio State (Ohio State -15, O/U 44.5) – Ohio State looks to get back on track after a loss at Miami last week.  Colorado won their rivalry game over Colorado State last week, but this is a program that could really use a win over a legitimate team like Ohio State.

3:30 PM EST |  UCLA at Oregon State (Oregon State -4, O/U 50) – Oregon State is still looking for their first win of the season after losing to FCS school Sacramento State, then getting blown out at Wisconsin.  UCLA has a win over San Jose State this season, but they haven’t looked good against quality competition, losing to both Houston and Texas.

7:00 PM EST |  Vanderbilt at South Carolina (South Carolina -16, O/U 51.5) – Vanderbilt is one of the more improbable 3-0 teams in college football this season.  It’s not surprising that South Carolina is 3-0, but they’ve had a more difficult road than expected.

7:00 PM EST |  Florida at Kentucky (Florida -19.5, O/U 43) – You could call this an SEC rivalry, but it’s been pretty one-sided in recent memory.  This spread makes it look like this year won’t be any different.

8:00 PM EST |  LSU at West Virginia (LSU -6, O/U 49.5) – LSU might not be fun to watch on offense, but their defense is incredible and is the main reason why they are still contenders in the SEC.  West Virginia is also 3-0 and looking to avenge last year’s meeting, a game they certainly had a chance to win.

8:00 PM EST |  Missouri at Oklahoma (Oklahoma -21, O/U 56.5) – The Sooners look every bit as good as advertised and really legitimized their No. 1 ranking with a win at Florida State last week.  Missouri blew out cupcake Western Illinois last week, but struggled in their other test this season against Arizona State.

10:15 PM EST |  USC at Arizona State (USC -2.5, O/U 54) – USC hasn’t exactly looked impressive through three games, but they have worked their way to a 3-0 record.  The Sun Devils looked great earlier in the year, but suffered a setback last week at Illinois and are looking to get back on track.
