NFL Power Rankings: Week 5

Written October 15, 2009 by Rock Henderson

.) New York Giants- A nice scrimmage win over the Raiders is no reason to move them out of my top spot. Will face a stern test at New Orleans this Sunday.

.) New Orleans Saints- Are playing both sides of the ball better than they have in quite sometime. Brees and company should benefit from the bye week.

.) Indianapolis Colts- I like this team, but they have faced some of the weaker defenses in the league that have made them look better than they are.

.) Minnesota Vikings- Will see how much this Viking offense has improved with Favre when the Ravens roll into town. Baltimore is fuming after two straight losses.  The NFL odds show the Vikings favored by 3 points.

.) Denver Broncos- Finally a believer but their road win is looking more and more impressive at Cincinnati. Could be setup for a letdown at San Diego Monday.

.) Philadelphia Eagles- McNabb returned in mid-season form as young WR Jeremy Maclin gives the Eagles another deep threat.

.) Cincinnati Bengals- The Cardiac Cats are at it again. Ochocinco is happy again and all is right with the world.

.) Atlanta Falcons- Offense showed what it can do when hitting on all cylinders against the 49ers. Will be hard to duplicate the effort against the Bears.

.) Baltimore Ravens- Hit a little bump in the road with two consecutive losses. Need a big win at Minnesota before they hit their bye week.

.) New York Jets- Rex Ryan’s D looked average against the Dolphins. Guessing we will see the Bills run some form of the Wildcat.  If you plan to do any NFL betting this season, you should definitely check out this $500 match bonus available to our readers from BetUS.

.) New England Patriots- Brady and company turned stagnant in the second half against the Broncos. Not looking like the teams of the past.

.) Chicago Bears- Cutler has started to play the Chicago way and is no longer running his mouth. Have coped well with the loss of MLB Brian Urlacher.

.) Pittsburgh Steelers- Have steered the ship in the right direction for the time being. RB Rashard Mendenhall has been a much needed boost to the offense

.) Green Bay Packers- Looking for help in all kinds of places to repair an offensive line that has allowed the most sacks through five weeks.

.) San Diego Chargers- Could cut the division lead to one game with a win over Denver at home. Defense needs to improve quickly.

.) San Francisco 49ers- Mike Singletary’s speech was probably fairly heated after their beatdown against Atlanta. Frank Gore will return after the bye week.

.) Miami Dolphins- Nice back to back wins after starting 0-3. Wildcat looks like it is here to stay for this Dolphins team at least.

.) Dallas Cowboys- Three wins over three below average teams. Miles Austin might have made himself a lot of money with last week’s performance.

.) Arizona Cardinals- Defense actually stepped up with a goal line stand and pick 6 to secure a 28-21 over the Texans.

.) Seattle Seahawks- The return of Matt Hasselbeck means everything to this team. Seattle has a great shot to steal the division if he stays healthy.

The Rest of the Bunch

.) Carolina Panthers

.) Tennessee Titans
