9:00 PM ET |  Cal at Oregon (Oregon -23.5, O/U 64.5) – Cal hasn’t played much in terms of competition so far this year, but I was surprised to see this line so high, even with their loss at Washington last week.  Then again, Oregon has been simply steam-rolling opponents since their season-opening loss against LSU.

9:00 PM ET |  Boise State at Fresno State (Boise -20.5, O/U 58.5) – Boise State is rolling once again, but they haven’t covered a spread in two-straight weeks.  That’s rare for them.  They are 9-1 against the spread versus Fresno State since 1992, including a 51-0 drubbing last season.

Saturday October 8, 2011

1:00 PM ET |  Oklahoma vs Texas (Oklahoma -10) – Both teams are undefeated and both teams have dominated, for the most part, so far this season.  That’s the way the Red River Rivalry should set up.  Oklahoma won 28-20 last year.  Not much respect for Texas despite a perfect record and the fact the game is in Dallas.

3:30 PM ET |  Florida at LSU (LSU -13.5, O/U 41.5) – Somehow Florida has won six of their last nine games at LSU and has covered the spread in eight of those nine games.  LSU looks like a true title contender this year, however, with wins over Oregon and West Virginia already under their belts.  It will be interesting to see how they stand up the rest of the season against a brutal SEC schedule.

3:30 PM ET |  Iowa at Penn State (Penn State -4, O/U 45) – Big Ten opener for Iowa, who has won five of their last seven trips to Happy Valley.  Penn State looks good on defense, but they haven’t been tested outside of Alabama, who dominated them start to finish.  Iowa isn’t Alabama, but we’ll find a lot more out about both teams after this game.

3:30 PM ET |  Miami at Virginia Tech (VA Tech -7.5, O/U 45) – Virginia Tech stumbled last week in their first real test of the season against Clemson.  Miami has looked good at times, but losses to Maryland and Kansas State don’t bode well for them heading into this one.

7:00 PM ET |  Georgia at Tennessee (Georgia -1, O/U 57.4) – Good matchup here between two teams with a lot of potential.  Neither showed up in their signature games of the season, but a win here would help build momentum heading into the thick of the SEC schedule.

7:00 PM ET |  Texas A&M at Texas Tech (Texas A&M -9, O/U 70.5) – Texas A&M will try to rebound after two straight heartbreaking losses.  They’ll have their hands full with Texas Tech, who hasn’t really faced a quality opponent, but whose offense is putting up some impressive numbers.

7:00 PM ET |  Auburn at Arkansas (Arkansas -10, O/U 63.5) – There were 108 total points scored in this game last year.  We probably won’t see that many fireworks this year (though the total is actually higher this year than it was last year).  Both teams looked good last week in big wins.  Auburn over South Carolina and Arkansas over Texas A&M.

8:00 PM ET |  Ohio State at Nebraska (Nebraska -11) -  Nebraska had a rude awakening at Wisconsin last week in a 48-17 loss.  They’ll look to get back on track against Ohio State, who is just 3-2 this year following all of their offseason turmoil.
