Week 7 NFL Picks

Written October 25, 2009 by Rock Henderson

The Colts will look to keep their perfect record in tact at lowly St. Louis. Peyton Manning is a lock for MVP if he continues to play the way he has. Rams QB Marc Bulger returned last week at Jacksonville and almost led his team to their first win of the season. Indy should right at home inside the Edward Jones Dome. Play: Colts -13

Bengal RB Cedric Benson still holds some bitter feelings towards his old team the Chicago Bears. Benson is third in the league in rushing and has rejuvenated his career since his departure from the Bears. This is an important game for both squads, but I think Chicago is more talented and in a nice spot to steal a road win. Play: Chicago +1.5

Minnesota has run off six wins in a row with a generous schedule that has been played mainly at home. They will get their first real road test of the season at Pittsburgh Sunday. The Steelers should have success with their new found passing attack against a suspect Viking secondary. They have won three straight and getting Polamalu back on defense is crucial in a match-up like this. Play: Steelers -5

The 49ers have had a full two weeks to stew over their blowout loss at home against Atlanta. RB Frank Gore will return when they travel to Texas to take on the Houston Texans. Houston has done the whole win one lose one thing through six games and they won last week so play the 49ers here. Play: San Francisco +3

Will the Miami Dolphins and their Wildcat scheme be the first team to slow down the seemingly unstoppable New Orleans Saints? The line opened at 6 and of course the public is on the Saints. I don’t to follow the public on a line that raises a red flag and provides an opening for big money to come in on the favorite. Play: Miami +7

Points should come in bunches when Atlanta and Dallas hook up this weekend. The Falcons feature one of the most youthful and explosive offenses in the league. Dallas had their bye week to regroup and get their horses ready for the stretch run towards the playoffs. I think Tony Romo has a huge day here against a banged up Falcon secondary. Play: Dallas -4

The Giants better pick themselves up quickly after their 21 point loss to the Saints as the high powered Arizona Cardinal offense will be the opposition this week. Arizona has the top ranked rushing defense and we all know that the G-men are predicated around the run. The Cards proved that they are a different team on the road this season with their dominant road win at Seattle last week. Take the touchdown here. Play: Arizona +7

Monday night football will have plenty of storylines to carry through the game, but the match-up is a bit dismal. Washington head coach Jim Zorn was stripped of his play calling duties earlier this week and has one foot out the door. Eagles head coach Andy Reid will need to make a lot of adjustments after last Sunday’s debacle at Oakland. Records can be thrown out in a divisional match-up such as this, but you have to lay the 7 here. Play: Philadelphia -7

Other plays

Jets -6.5 @ Oakland

Tampa Bay +15 vs New England

Green Bay -7 @ Cleveland
