Wednesday October 26, 2011
UConn at Pitt (Pitt -10, Over/Under 42): I’m a little surprised that this line came out a high as it did. Pitt has played well at times, but this series has been very close in recent years.
Thursday October 27, 2011
Virginia at Miami (Miami -14, Over/Under 48): Miami is flying a bit under the radar this year, but if you take away their first loss in the first game of the year at Maryland, they’ve only lost to two top 25 teams by a combined seven points this season.
Rice at Houston (Houston -28, Over/Under 70.5): Obviously expecting a lot of points in this one, mostly from Houston – who is averaging just under 50 points per game. The Cougars aren’t typically good on defense, but they’ve been surprisingly effective on that side of the ball this season.
Friday October 28, 2011
BYU at TCU (TCU -14, Over/Under 56): Both teams are coming off of blowout wins over cupcakes. TCU has blown the Cougars out in the last two meetings in the series. The odds indicate this could be another big win for the Horned Frogs.
Saturday October 29, 2011
Georgia vs Florida (Georgia -3, Over/Under 49): This is technically a neutral site game, though Florida probably has the advantage as far as location. The Gators have dropped three straight (LSU, Alabama and Auburn), while Georgia has won five-straight since starting 0-2 – albeit against much weaker competition than what Florida has faced.
South Carolina at Tennessee (South Carolina -3.5, Over/Under 43.5): Both teams are suffering from major injuries to their playmakers. The Gamecocks are trying to stay on top in the SEC East, while Tennessee is just trying to salvage their season and maybe make a bowl game.
Wisconsin at Ohio State (Wisconsin -7, Over/Under 50.5): It will be interesting to see what Wisconsin does in just their second road game of the year. I think their stats are a skewed based on their competition and the fact that they played their first six games at home, but they are still a very good football team.
Michigan State at Nebraska (Nebraska -4, Over/Under 49.5): This could be a letdown spot for Michigan State, who is coming off of that huge emotional win over Wisconsin last week. The Spartans really have not played well on the road this year.
Oklahoma at Kansas State (Oklahoma -13.5, Over/Under 58.5): This is one of the more shocking lines of the week considering OU lost to Texas Tech last week and Kansas State is at home and undefeated. I guess the Sooners could be in revenge mode, but I still think this line falls by game time with action on the Wildcats.
Clemson at Georgia Tech (Clemson 4.5, Over/Under 63): Clemson looks to move to 9-0 and into dominant position in the ACC, but this isn’t an easy game – Georgia Tech has put up some impressive numbers on their home field this season.
Stanford at USC (Stanford -7.5, Over/Under 60): Stanford has covered every spread this season, and it hasn’t even really been close. The fact that this line opened at Stanford -8.5 and has fallen a full point or more makes me hesitant to ride them again this week. USC has been tough at home, but this spread is a little suspect.
Cal at UCLA (Cal -5, Over/Under 50): This is a good rivalry on the surface, but a closer look shows a middle-of-the-road Pac-12 game. Cal is probably the better team, but they haven’t shown up on the road this year.
Got something to say?
