Westbrook set to Return Against Broncos
Written December 23, 2009 by Jason Lowry
According to ESPN, Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook is set to return to action this Sunday against the Denver Broncos. This will be the first time Westbrook has suited up in five weeks, as he suffered his second concussion in a three week span back in week 10 against the San Diego Chargers.
Looking at the NFL odds for this match up, the Eagles come in heavy favorites at 7 points, and the addition of Westbrook will only help this team, as Westbrook is one of the best backs in the league when healthy. Still don’t expect to see a lot of Westbrook this weekend, as it’s likely that the Eagles will ease him back into the mix. With the likes of rookie LeSean McCoy an fullback Leonard Weaver running the ball well, there is no reason to over work Westbrook in his first week back.
While I don’t expect huge numbers from Westbrook in his first game back, this could be a huge addition for the Eagles and their run at a Super Bowl this season. The Eagles have already locked up a spot in the postseason, but with two more wins and a little help from the Vikings this team could end up with a first round bye.
