What is Sea Gulling
Written February 27, 2008 by Jack Jones
One of the things we always recommend to players is to make sure that you check your machine for credits before you decide to get up and walk away. However, do not think that you can go around the casino looking for machines that have credits in them. Machines that were last used by players not as careful as you who left credits in them.
This is called “sea gulling” in gambling lingo and it is illegal to specifically circle the casino looking for credits on a slot machine. Not even change on the floor. There have been players who were 86′ed for doing nothing more than making it a full-time duty of making the rounds at the casino looking for left over money.
Fortunately I have never heard of an unsuspecting patron walking up to a machine with credits, playing them, and being shown the door, but I wouldn’t recommend giving it a try.
Nevertheless before you walk away from any slot machine, don’t forget to press the cash-out button. Millions are lost each year by gamblers forgetting their stored credits. Casinos love that extra money given to them for free.
