The Wisconsin Badgers have pretty much owned the Big Ten Conference, except for the Purdue Boilermakers, who have given them their only two conference losses this season. The Badgers have an overall record of 24-4 and a 14-2 record in the Big Ten. The Badgers most impressive win of the year was when they went to Texas and beat the Longhorns on their homecourt. They have also beaten Indiana twice and most recently the Michigan State Spartans. While the Big Ten isn’t as deep as it once was, it still has 4 very solid teams at the top. The Badgers currently are tied for the Big Ten lead with Purdue and Indiana. The Badgers will be dancing in March; it’s just a matter of what seed they will get. It will all come down to their performance and how well the teams ahead of them play.

Bo Ryan is the man in charge of this impressive team, as he has them playing some of the soundest basketball in college basketball. The Badgers aren’t a fancy team putting up big offensive numbers, but instead play intense defense and value the basketball. Seniors Brian Butch and Michael Flowers lead them. Butch is the teams leading scorer and rebounder with 12.4 PPG and 6.8 APG. Flowers does a great job of handling the ball and scores nearly 10 PPG and nearly 2.5 APG. Sophomore Trevon Hughes is second in scoring with 12.3 PPG. Junior Marcus Landry is the only other player that averages in double digits with 11 PPG and he also brings in over 5 RPG. Joe Krabbenhoft round up the starting 5 with 7 PPG and 6.5 RPG. They also have a very solid 6th man in Jason Bohannon who comes off the bench to score 7.9 PPG.

The Badgers only have to two remaining Big Ten Conference games remaining in Penn St. and Northwestern. Both teams have losing records and should pose no problem for the Badgers in their run for at least a share of the Big Ten Title. The Badgers will then have to head to the Big Ten Tournament, where you know they hope to get another shot at Purdue.

The Badgers could easily play their way into a #2 seed if they are able to win out and take home both the Big Ten regular and tournament titles. The Badgers have head some bad losses this season against highly ranked Duke and ranked Marquette. They lost to Duke by 24 and 5 to Marquette at home. The Badgers are known for being able to make good runs in the NCAA Tournament, as defensive teams are usually a safe bet to perform well. Wisconsin will be looking to rebound from an early exit last year, as they came in as a #2 seed, but were upended by #7 seed UNLV. The Badgers have a lot to prove, as many fans around the country aren’t sold on a team coming from the Big Ten to cut down the nets in 2008.
