The action is heading to Detroit this weekend for some Sweet 16 excitement out of the Midwest. With the first two rounds all wrapped up, this is where you start to get an idea on who has what it takes to win it all. Getting things underway will be #3 Wisconsin and #10 Davidson. While Davidson has had to upset teams for both its wins, Wisconsin has yet to face a team above a #11 seed.#3 Wisconsin had a pretty routine road to the Sweet 16. With a big win over #14 Cal State Fullerton, and another impressive win in the second round over #11 Kansas State. Winning both games by at least 15-points shows that the Badgers aren’t having any let downs after taking care of both the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles. The Badgers aren’t a team to take lightly with their biggest win of the season coming on Texas’s home court back in December. The Badgers are on a 12 game winning streak and for the most part taken care of each opponent will relative ease. While the Badgers come in playing some of the best defense in the country, they really make sure they secure the ball and take quality shots. They aren’t a flashy team by any means, as their leading scorer comes in C Brain Butch who averages a team high 12.4 PPG and 6.7 RPG. They are overall a pretty balanced team; including Butch they have 6 guys who average anywhere from 7 to 12 points a game.

#10 Davidson has had a crazy first weekend of games. They started it off with a big dramatic win over #7 Gonzaga, then capped off the weekend with a big upset over #2 Georgetown. Davidson rolled through the Southern Conference with a perfect 23-0 record, and didn’t have a very weak non-conference schedule either. They played the likes of UCLA, Duke, UNC, and Arizona Sate. While they only managed to win against Arizona State, they played each of the other 3 teams tough. If you just watched the highlights from the first round of action, you know the Stephen Curry. Curry has put on a show so far racking up 40-points in the first round game against Gonzaga, then backed it up with a 30-point effort against one of the best defensive teams in #2 Georgetown. So while the will need every thing Curry has to offer against Wisconsin, he has some help in G Jason Richards who has put up a total of 35 points in two games.

Wisconsin -4.5

While we really liked the Badgers in this game, it was hard to decide on if they would cover the 4.5-point spread. What it came down to was that when Wisconsin wins, it usually wins big. During there 12 game winning streak, they have won all but 3 games by at least 9 or more points. One trend that we really think will keep rolling is Wisconsin is 6-0 ATS after covering at least 4 of their last 6 games. So take the Badgers in this one, and don’t be surprised to see Curry shutdown, and another Badger blowout.

Under 126.5

This was one of the more difficult over/under to pick, but we believe if Wisconsin is going to win the game, they will have to control the clock and keep the ball out of Curry’s hands. While its hard to go under on a total so low, but the UNDER is 98-52 when the total is under 129.5 in a NCAA Tournament game. So avoid the temptation and be sure to watch the line, as the betting public continues to jump on the over, this should only favor your play on the under.
