World Series Betting

world-series-bettingWith the MLB’s World Series, betting can take on a few different forms.  There are futures bets, prop bets, and, of course, you can bet on the individual games.  If you are going to do any baseball betting on the World Series, this is a great place to start for understanding your options.

World Series Futures – This is a simple concept, but a hard type of bet to win.  At just about any point in the season you can bet on which team you think will win the World Series.  The earlier you bet on a team, the more likely you are to get better odds, simply because less of the season has passed.  For example, you might have been able to bet the Red Sox at 10 to 1 to win at the beginning of the season, but by the All-Star break, say they have the best record in baseball, then your odds would drop to something like 4 to 1.  If you do want to make a futures bet, choose wisely.  You are usually going to want to look at value in these cases, and not always take the favorite to win it all as the odds are really not in your favor.  By the same token, you don’t want to bet on a team with 500 to 1 odds because it’s highly unlikely that bet is going to win.

World Series Props – Proposition bets or “props” usually mean betting on something a little more unconventional.  Some examples of proposition bets would be the over/under on a starting pitcher’s strike out total, or the over/under on the total number of bases collected by both teams.  These can be a little tricky, but if you pick your spots right you can really clean up.

Betting on World Series Games – If you are not familiar with the standard forms of betting, you may want to find out how to bet baseball, but we’ll assume here that you already know about betting baseball money lines, totals, and have an understanding of MLB run lines.  While these bets are just like the ones you would place on normal baseball games, you’ll want to pay special attention to where the games are being played, as well as the starting pitchers post-season experience.  These factors weigh more heavily on World Series games and should always be considered.
